It must be an epidemic. Christ didn't expand on my statement at all.
He
challenged it's truth.
Well, you can't argue with Him...
True, True, as anyone who has tried quickly discovers
The kindly God who lovingly fashioned each and every one of us and
sprinkled
the sky with shining stars for our delight - that God is, like Santa
Claus, a
myth of childhood, not anything a sane, un-deluded adult could literally
believe in. That God must either be turned into a symbol for something
less
concrete or abandoned altogether.
[Daniel Dennett]
"God and Satan alike are essentially human figures,
the one a projection of ourselves, the other of our enemies."
[Lord Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)]
Christ advocates being humane no matter what the reasons not to be.
Being humane is not a function of logic, nor reason, but of love, and our
Christian "God is love" (1 John 4:8,16). Anyone demonstrating love and care
therefore demonstrates our Christian God, which ideally is to be "a
projection of ourselves" indeed!!!!
Is Bertie given to emphasise the obvious, or is he?

Not quite - it is the propagators of a myth called Christ
that, by applying many other good and bad things, appeal to man's inherent
desire for
being humane, by pretending it is an exclusive prerequisite of their imaginary
Son of a God.
Not quite the same thing Frank.
You see Taoists, Buddhists, members of all religions and atheists,
all have the same desires in roughly equal quantities,
but of course you already knew that.

"Groan" indeed. Nobody argues that you can't be good without any
"imaginary deity", that is if you know what good is, without a deity as
paradigm. What makes you think you know what is good in the first place? Is
it because you consult those in authority and/or command respect etc. etc.
Hitler Stalin and a host of other tyrantrs had the respect of people, and
people like you committed atrocities because your ideological leaders said
it was OK.

The above is the perfect example of the low sick level that religionists
descend to when their pitiful mythologies are challenged.
What more than the above do we need to show that atheism is indeed a breath of
fresh air in a world of madness.
An example of this madness is a fellow that calls himself a Pastor coming here
month after month expounding his theory along with vitriolic insults to anyone
that challenges him, that his 'god is love', when he knows very well that if we
could ask his great grand pappy where his god was he would have imagined a grey
bearded old fellow that "Lives up thar, just above them thar clouds, up thar in
heaven"
We hear of people 'moving the goal posts' in order to verify something or
other, well religionists are past masters of the habit, so essential when
trying to justify their myths

You are lying about my ancestors who were for the most part staunch
atheists as I was for most of my life. Once you start thinking however, you
will quickly discover, that your atheism rests on false premises.
So start thinking already or post your atheism to atheist groups who
will all agree with you. "fresh air" indeed!!!!!!

Is "common decency" your god / ideal then? Define "common decency",
enshrine it in stories of your paradigms of "common decency" and start
advocating it. You will have a hard time getting your doctrine disseminated
and accepted without teachers / priests.
We Christians think that common decency is part and parcel of love, and
our "God is love" (1 John 4:8,16), something you dispute. Just trashing
Christ's advocacy of "common decency" AKA godly behaviour hardly supports
your case.

Yes Common decency certainly is my ideal and i am not prepared to spend two
hours writing a thesis on common decency covering all of it's aspects just to
have a one liner back from a religionist with another cute answer.
Instead, you define your god, show that all the manifestations of religions
the claptrap and parafinalia that goes with it
were not designed by men; but put there by a god.
Go on, have a try.
Before you do so remember,
I am not blinkered into challenging one god, the god of Christianity -
I challenge them all
