Well, the bar of heraldry doesn't mean "son" directly. It's a horizontal
stripe or stripes on a shield. A "bar sinister" goes from the center of
the shield to the bearer's left.

It also denotes left-handed, which is the opposite of the one who
sits at the "right hand" of God.
The right is "dexter" which gives us "dextrous".
Dextrose is simple sugar which rotates polarized light clockwise.
