Object: Re-Examining My Religion
I've been brought up a Christian since I was a little kid but lately I've
begun to have doubts about the Christian religion. I wrote up an article
about my experience and the result of the research and reading I've done.
If you think this might be interesting to you please check it iout:

Please let me know what you think. No flames please, just discussion.
Thanks

===>You tell a most interesting story of awakening.
CONGRATULATIONS!
There is just one slight mistake I noted:
"Messiah" does NOT mean that the person is "God".
So, when you say that Jesus could not have been the
"Messiah" because he believed the story of Noah, etc.,
that is a conclusion based on inappropriate premises.
A "Messiah" was simply any anointed priest or king,
and more specifically a LIBERATOR king, as the one
identified in Isaiah 45 by name, one who was not even a
Jew!
It is only Christianity that has equated the Jewish concept
of "Messiah" with the Pauline concept of a "Christos", which,
as you noted, had little if anything to do with the man from
Galilee, and more to do with the ancient Pagan idea of
an incarnate, sacrificed and resurrected savior god of the
mystery religions.
Your story of awakening reminds me a lot of my own.
The more one STUDIES the literature compiled in the Bible,
especially in its cultural and historical contexts, and the more
one is willing to learn about other religions, the more one
realizes the falsehood of priestly teachings, i.e. that
FAITH IS A SACERDOTALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE.

For one example, the ossuary would not have been the
first evidence of Jesus' existence. I suggest you read
a book called, "The Case for Christ", by Lee Strobel.
I think you'll find it informative.

I suggest you don't bother. Strobel pretends to ask a carefully
selected group of conservative Christian scholars what he hopes you'll
think are penetrating questions. But he then meekly accepts their
facile answers without ever asking really hard questions.
