Sorry, but happiness is strictly a subjective concept. NO one can
dictate to someone else how they can be happy.

Nothing to stop you from calling happiness what we call a feeling; but
if you hope understand what the Church teaches so you can decide if it's
reasonable, you can't poor private meaning into the terms.

Every denomination that uses the bible as their source of reference
for what god allegedly said, pours their own private meaning into what
the bible says. They agree on some points, while disagreeing
(sometimes violently) on other points. So I guess I'm no different
than you in this respect.

Then let followers of those denominations address your outstanding
question "can a repentant sinner suffer depression".

*YOU* were the one that said that happiness can only come through
"divine revelation."

Reviewing the thread I opened June 19 by saying "It doesn't take Divine
Revelation to know that if I never repent I shall be miserable forever.
It stands to reason if I definitively reject the Source of all happiness
I shall be permanently unhappy. ".
That you will be either forever happy or permanently miserable are
demonstrable from reason alone with no appeal to supernatural
Revelation. (see reply to Thomas P 6/21).

I get the impression that you're confusing peace with happiness. I
know people that are happy all the time, and are constantly smiling.
However, they've had severe head injuries...

Revelation. (see reply to Thomas P 6/21).

IOW, the bible is metaphorical.
