Hope it passes, maybe then the purely English misinterpretation of two Greek
words in the New Testiment will finally be interpreted along the lines of
the rest of the world. And our mis-interpretative bias against homosexuals
will disappear from our Bibles (never belonged there anyway)

NATIONAL PRAYER NETWORK E-MAIL ALERT:
Federal Hate Bill Will Pass This Spring
by Rev. Ted Pike
Although defeated in conference between the House and Senate on Oct.
8, the "Big Brother" federal "anti-hate" bill, the "Local Law
Enforcement Enhancement Act," will easily become law when it is
re-introduced by the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith and the
gay lobby this spring.
In a procedural, non-binding vote on Sept. 28, the House of
Representatives voted 213 to 186 in favor of passage. This concurs
with the Senate vote of 65 to 33 in its favor on April 15. This means
that the ADL, originator of this legislation, can boldly re-introduce
it through their lackeys, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass) and Senator
Gordon Smith (R-OR), and it will surely pass. The overwhelming
majority of Republican and Democratic members of Congress have pledged
to pass it.
Although the ADL was successful, during the 1990's, in persuading 48
states to adopt some version of its "Model Anti-hate Bill," the ADL is
intent on the real prize: establishment of a vast federal "anti-hate"
bureaucracy forcing the states to adhere to a federal anti-hate
agenda. "The Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act" would demolish all
restrictions against federal intrusion into states enforcement of
civil rights law. In fact, if the federal government did not like the
verdict of a hate crimes trial on the local level, the federal bill
gives the government the right to intervene and, presumably, retry the
case to its satisfaction.
Even more ominous, the federal hate bill will powerfully enforce upon
the states the practical federal definition that "hate equals bias
against homosexuality." Under the ADL's pet legislation, the "Hate
Crimes Statistics Act of 1990," the ADL made a place for itself as the
definer of what hate is, and the gatherer of statistics on "hate
crimes" for the federal government. With additional encouragement by
Attorney General Janet "Butch" Reno, the ADL, through its police
training manuals, 'anti-hate" videos, and hate crimes data collection
system, has now become law enforcement's teacher on what are "hate"
and "hate crimes." If the Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act" is
passed this spring, the ADL will be in even greater control, guiding
enforcement of its agenda through a huge, Orwellian, federal anti-hate
bureaucracy.
Because the ADL's police educational program emphasizes that "hate
equals bias against homosexuality," the federal hate bill
automatically targets evangelical Christians. No book is so full of
bias against homosexuality as the Bible, calling homosexuality an
"abomination."
Thus, Bible-believing Christians, automatically become violators of
the ADL/federal definition of "hate," becoming potential "hate
criminals." Already, we see Christians in Philadelphia, for nothing
more than preaching of the gospel, arrested and indicted for violation
of Pennsylvania's ADL hate law. Passage of the ADL's federal hate law
bill will exponentially increase the power of government "thought
crimes" police to indict Christians as "thought criminals" nationwide.
It is vital NOW that you call the President's comment line at
202-456-1111 and members of Congress toll free at 1-800-TEXLASO and
give them the following message:
For merely preaching the gospel, four Christians are now indicted
under Pennsylvania's "anti-hate" law. Don't approve the federal hate
bill when it is introduced this spring!

Gays should have parity with blacks, Christians, and Jews
under hate crime laws. Either give equality under the law
to all minorities, or get rid of the laws, completely.
The government wouldn't dream of getting rid of the laws
as they apply to blacks, Christians, or Jews, so the kinds of
people who complain only when it is the turn for gays
to be treated equally are being hypocrites, and can save
their complaints.
No one is going to get put in jail for saying "I disapprove
of homosexuality". The right to harbor obnoxious beliefs
will be quite safe.

Now just a minute... did you happen to read the brief article with the
header: A Jew says 'Merry Christmas'? That writer made the following
observations:
a. In Maplewood and South Orange, N.J., the school board has banned
all Christmas carols, even instrumentals, from holiday concerts.
b. In Denver, the city's annual Parade of Lights included German folk
dancers, a gay and lesbian Indian group, and belly dancers -- but a
Christian-themed float was banned because it would have included a
message reading "Merry Christmas."
c. In Southwest Florida, the rule against celebrating holidays is so
rigid that one middle school principal told the Sarasota Herald
Tribune: "You won't see any Christmas trees around here. We keep it
generic."
d. In New York City, official school board policy authorizes displays
of "Christmas trees, menorahs, and the [Muslim] star and crescent" --
which it describes as "secular holiday symbol decorations" -- but
prohibits depictions of the nativity.
e. In Franklin, Mich., the annual Holly Day celebration has been
renamed the Franklin Winter Festival. "Holly Day," the sponsors
decided, sounded too Christmassy. "We wanted to try to make it more
inclusive."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I cannot understand where atheists and agnostics come up with the idea
that Christianity is NOT discriminated against where other personal
beliefs and practices are discriminated against.
Seems to me that all religious holidays are being discriminated
against if all public displays are banned. They are not singling out
christian holidays. Hanakuah, Kwanza, Festivus are all equally banned.
Do christians want to allow Church of Satan holidays and prayers on
public lands? I don't think so.
Trying to classify gays as a minority doesn't cut it.
According to gays and their advocates, the only
difference is sex and classifying a sex act as a
minority doesn't wash.
No one is going to get put in jail for saying "I disapprove
of homosexuality".
That's a broad sweeping statement. But the fact is that some already
are being fined or even jailed in some nations like Canada or Sweden.
When it becomes international law that a person may be considered to
have committed a "hate crime" by saying that the Bible teaches that
homosexuality is a sin and a perversion, then that person may be
prosecuted. I don't know what the people said in Pennsylvania at that
gay rally, but whoever spoke out against homosexuality there is indeed
being prosecuted. So, your statement is not backed up by fact.
The right to harbor obnoxious beliefs
will be quite safe.
You are right when it comes to harboring obnoxious beliefs against
fundamental Christian faith. You can say any damned thing you want to
against that - anywhere.
If considering the fact that the main reasin a crime was committed was
because the "perps" were selecting a vistin because of their race,
creed, religion, gender, is to you a violation of the "perps" 1st
Amendment rights.....
Or if If considering the fact that the main reasin a crime was
committed was because the "perps" were selecting a vistin because of
their race, creed, religion, gender is punishing the "perps" for their
thoughts....
Than laws against terroism are also violation of the "perps" 1st
Amendment rights., and punishing the "perps" for their thoughts....
If not, why not?
