So, are you saying that humans should continue to waste and misuse the
resources of the planet, because God will simply create another species

perspective, although it certainly supports the attitude of the "godless"
types that Steve was talking about upthread.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying our goal should be
to save us - the earth will take care of itself. All emphasis is on
what we are doing to the earth where it should be on what we are doing
to ourselves. The attitude of "why should I be concerned about ice
caps melting when they won't affect my neighborhood" may be wrong, but
it is understandable. But if you show me my neighborhood in a desert,
what could be my family starving for lack of food, cars parked for
lack of oil, etc, you will definitely get my attention. I'm saying we
need to change the message if we want results. We are stewards of the
land, not for the lands benefit, but for our benefit.

Bob,
Yes, we can only do so many things now in order to try to undo the
damage we have caused to the planet. For example, every time most of
us hop in our car to go to work, we help to pollute the very air we
breath. Yet most of us cannot get to work walking or using just a
bicycle, or afford an expensive electric car etc. Mankind has backed
himself into a corner. The Bible knew this, and shows who is going to
pull mankind out of his mess. Re 11:18,
"...The time has come to destroy those who are destroying the earth."
(NJB)
Yes, mankind is unable to help itself to completely undo all the harm
it has caused. It will take an intelligence much greater than man's to
accomplish this. And that great intelligence is God. Here are some of
His plans: Re 21:3,4,
"3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling
of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his
people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will
wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed
away." (NIV)
No human government or individual can bring about such things. But God
can and will.
Sincerely, James
