"There is a lot of debate and confusion surrounding the man-made
term 'King James Onlyism.' This term has been popularized in recent
years by men who claim they are concerned about an alleged dangerous
and cultic view of the King James Bible. Rarely
"Rarely?" Not quite. King JamesOnlyism is the cult belief that there
is only one valid Bible that exists today. That "only valid Bible" is
the King James (or "Authorized" ) version.
The question would IMMEDIATELY come to mind: "Authorized by WHO?"
Then the next question would be, "who gave _____ the "authority" to
authorize ONLY ONE Bible translation?"
I have no problem with people who prefer the KJV over other translations. I
have a problem with the radical elements within the KJV-Only movement like
Peter Ruckman, Gail Anne Riplinger, Sam "Better Call Me 'Doctor'" Gipp,
David Cloud, D.A. Waite, Jack Chick and a handful of others, the most
extreme of them going as far as claiming those who use translations other
than the King James Bible are going to hell. Some of the proponents like
Peter Ruckman and Gail Anne Riplinger use dishonesty to support their claims
and ruthlessly attack anyone who opposes their POV's and expose their
errors, misrepresentations and outright fabrications. The KJO movement is a
relatively small, yet vocal group mainly consisting of self-described
"Independent Fundamental Baptists." It's a movement that seems to be slowly
dying out as time goes on.

Most of the Geneva NT is the Tyndale Bible, Tyndale didn't translate the OT.

I got it, my was partially tongue in cheek - although, I do think the Geneva
has a better claim to "authenticity: than the KJV which was marred by the
political motives involved in its translationand it's slant toward Anglican
doctrine and away from Puritan doctrine (which was part of the purpose).

At the time of its publication, the kjv was the "radical new"
translation.
But just because it is called "authorized" (authorized of course to be
read in the church of England), kjv onliers think it is "special."

The key word is "fundamental" an off-shoot of a 20th Century heretical

Laugh while you may, HERETIC.
???
"heretic?" I see you use words VERY loosely, depending on your
MOODS.
I confess the Lord Jesus Christ, God in flesh, as my Lord.
What part of that is "heresy?"

Your professing is one thing, John.... your BEHAVIOR is quite another.
Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause
divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned;
and avoid them.
Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but
their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the
hearts of the simple.

EXACTLY that could be said about YOU!
Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause
divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned;

And when you start WW III over my comments that I believe Jesus
baptized, who does that matter to but YOU? No one, but you are more
than happy to crucify me because I believe something that is a NON
issue.

All of which could be said about YOU.

Did Jesus invade Poland to do it perhaps?
Sounds like another Weatherly fanatasy to me
I checked Hitlers speech on the Invasion of Poland and it appears the
Weatherly version (see below) isn't correct
even though it is found in:
"A Fundamentalist Looney Looks at Modern History" J Weatherly (Derieux

+++++++
Invasion of Poland
Hitlers speech to the Reichstag Septemeber 1939
Weatherlys fantasy
"In this I will take the necessary measures to see that they do not
contradict the proposals I have already made known in the Reichstag First
Century Church to the rest of the world, that is to say, I will not throw
Holy water at women and children. I have ordered my air force to restrict
itself to attacks on baptismal fonts. If, however, the enemy thinks he can
form that draw carte blanche on his side to baptise even using other
methods he will receive an answer that will deprive him of the necessary
water
This night for the first time Jesus baptised on our territory. Since 5.45
A.M. we have been returning compliment by defensive baptism carried out on
our own side, and from now on descending Doves will be met by buckshot.
Whoever fights with communion wafers will be fought with rosary beads.
Whoever departs from the rules of humane water baptism can only expect
that we shall do the same but with baptism of the Spirit and with fire. I
will continue this struggle, no matter against whom, until the safety of
the Reich and its baptismal fonts are secured."

smirk!
I can't count the times a "brilliant," "well-educated,"
"well-schooled," "well-read," "Pentecostal" person has said to me,
"If the King James Bible was good enough for Jesus, for Peter, and for
Paul, by golly, it's good enough for me!"

"Yup!"
I have no problem whatever with anyone who "prefers the KJV."
Sometimes, I wish I could make heads or tails of it becaues there are
those who find the language "beautiful."
But when I am trying to do SERIOUS Bible study, I find a modern
language I don't have to "translate" in my head is more constructive.
I have actually known people-- I used to work with two "Pentecostal"
guys in a factory in Los Angeles.. these guys will tell you, "if the
King James Bible was good enough for Jesus, for Peter, and for Paul,
by golly, it's good enough for me!"
I finally told one guy, "Don", "Don.... did you realize that the
King James Bible was translated over 1,000 YEARs after Jesus, Peter,
and Paul lived?"
His eyes crossed. "Really?" I said "Yep!" He said, "That's not
what my pastor, "Pastor Billy Bob" said!"
??? We never got as far as where Pastor Billy Bob got his AS degree
in Bible. Presumably it was from a local, Los Angeles-based 2-year
Pentecostal Bible college!!
May God bless,
Carl
