You forget the NUMEROUS Hebrew and Greek scholars today, Icon, who
have translated the various versions of the Bible we use now. I have
known probably 20 or 30 Bible translators in my time.
I see no evidence that you have ever talked to a translator of ancient
texts. All translations rely on the word and the sense in which it is
used. Translations are easiest when being done from a living language
with a contemporary text. Older languages are more of a challenge, but,
if they have a lot of text (eg Ancient Greek, Latin), it is relatively
easy to understand context and implications, particularly of idiom. Old
languages with only a relatively small corpus are quite difficult to
understand in the details and idioms.
Yes, modern translators do think that they have puzzled out most of the
Hebrew, but you will not find any translator worth hiring who would
claim to be able to do a definitive translation which includes the full
meaning of the text.
