Re: Reason and Religion
Sorry Visitor Of Origins.

Muslim does not worship Muhammad but they worship the Almighty God the
Creator. They worship what Abraham, Moses and Jesus worship. They
follow what Jesus, Moses and Muhammad teaches.

Cheers

Hello,
Are you really so sure that Muslims follow the teachings of Jesus? For
example, Jesus said this at Mt 5:44,
"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute
you," (NASB)
By 'loving your enemies' Jesus didn't mean sticking a sword through
their hearts etc. That would certainly be a strange way to show them
"love", would it not?
Also Jesus said this at Joh 14:6,
"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me."" (NIV)
That statement means that one cannot get to God through Muhammad or
anyone else other than through Jesus. I have never heard of any Muslim
agreeing with that statement from Jesus. On the contrary, when it
comes to religion, next to God, Muslims focus most of their attention
on Muhammad, not Jesus.
Thus to me to say that Muslims follow the teachings of Jesus, just
doesn't fit the facts.
Sincerely, James

Can one honestly remain Catholic (or a monotheist) after applying
reason to dogma?

For example, who am I to believe is telling the truth: The muslim who
worships Muhammad or the christian who says no, Jesus is the true
missiah? Let's assume both camps claim with equal vehemence. How are
we to conclude which is objectively true?
Does thinking critically about monotheism just undermine it?

From my own experience I've found reason to be an utterly destructive

force to the establishment of catholicism and perhaps more broadly
monotheism.
