The problems with smoking are health related, that's it. Smoking causes
cancer, heart disease and emphysema and also can cause complications for
people on medications such as birth control pills. Smoking is purely a
health problem. Nothing more. I don't see how smoking is on topic for
this group at all. In fact it disturbs me to find a discussion of it
here. I wish you all would stop, or at least label it off topic. Or at
least have some obARCE-O at the bottom.

Hello,
Yes, smoking is certainly a health issue, and the Bible does not want
people to willfully hurt themselves that way.
True, there is no command in the Bible that says, 'Thou shall not
smoke'. Neither is there a command that says, 'Thou shalt not copy
unauthorized software'. But the Bible does provide principles that
cover just about everything. And a true Christian would be interested
in what the Bible had to say. (see Joh 17:17)
For example, there is now ample evidence to show that even second-hand
smoke can, and does, harm people. Jesus said at Mt 19:19,
"...Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." (KJV)
It certainly wouldn't be showing much love to make people choke on a
person's cigarette smoke.
Yes today there is overwhelming evidence in the medical field that
smoking is esp harmful to the smoker. So would it be proper for a
Christian to knowingly harm his body? Notice what the Bible says at Ro
12:1,
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer
your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is
your spiritual act of worship." (NIV)
Also notice 2 Co 7:1,
"Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves
from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness
out of reverence for God." (NIV)
Clearly, God does not want His true servants to pollute their bodies
with cigarette smoke or anything else that would 'defile the flesh'
and not make their bodies "holy". Nor would He want our smoke to harm
others.
So yes, smoking is certainly also a religious issue since the Bible
gives principles to avoid such harmful things.
Sincerely, James

Smoking does NOT cause cancer. Cancer is a "virus". The myth that smoking
causes cancer is propaganda perpetuated by the government.

Actually, it is the devil that doesn't want people to smoke. I know this
because he has come to me many times complaining for me to stop smoking. The
government has perpetuated the lie of harmful affects of smoking because it
serves the beast, as the rulers and leaders of the world are Luciferian aka
Satanists. I truly believe that smoking protects the smoker in some way,
since the government is constantly placing chemicals, biological agents, and
other toxins in our food, water and air, to destroy the population for it is
their desire to depopulate the earth.
If you notice that all studies stating that smoking is harmful comes from
government controlled agencies. Believe NOTHING that the media, government
and scientists claim because in these evil end times, everything, and I mean
absolutely everything, that comes from their lips is LIES, propaganda and
deceptions.

If it's a virus, then tobacco is the vector, so smoking STILL causes
cancer.
Interestingly, lung cancer is not the most common way for smokers
to snuff it. Heart disease is #1, followed by stroke and emphysema.
These forms of death are miserable at least, excruciating at worst.

A virus is a living organism and needs a living host to survive. Tobacco is
dead, and the fire from a burning cigarette would kill any virus even if it
managed to attach itself to tobacco, thus smoking does NOT cause the
infestation of the cancer virus.
