Re: Theological Question - when does a Man's "Soul" get created?
any Church writtings on this matter?
created at conception?
created when the World (abam) was created?
which?
just thinking about this a few days ago and was wondering if there was
an Official Doctrine on this.
Hello,
You are assuming a human has an 'immortal soul'. The Bible does not
teach that. You can see this for yourself. The first use of the word
"soul" in relation to a human (its first use is with fish and animals)
is with Adam. When God created Adam, notice what he became when God
made him come to life. Ge 2:7,
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
(KJV)
Notice here that Adam BECAME a soul, he wasn't 'given' a soul or had
one created for him. As for the other part of that false teaching,
that it is 'immortal', since a "soul" is a whole person, then a "soul"
can die. Eze 18:4,
"Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the
soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die." (KJV)
If you hit the library, you will find that the 'immortal soul'
teaching is based on the teachings of Plato and Aristotle. Here is a
sample from the Funk and Wagnall's Encyclopedia,
"Early Judaism considered the human personality as a whole, without
making a sharp distinction between body and soul....The Christian
doctrine of the soul has been strongly influenced by the philosophies
of Plato and Aristotle."
Thus to answer you question above, the Bible shows that a man IS a
soul, he wasn't 'given' one.
When humans die they go to "hell". (sheol, hades). Both the good and
bad. This "hell" place is the common grave of dead mankind. They have
no conscience existence while there. (see Ec 9:5; Ps 146:3,4) Their
hope is in the upcoming resurrection of the dead, both the good and
the bad. Ac 24:15,
"and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a
resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked." (NIV)
These are the Bible's teachings. And true servants of God go by the
Bible, not the philosophies of men etc.
Sincerely, James

The Bible doesn't *teach* anything. Books don't *teach*. Teachers teach. You
are a teacher, albeit a bad one, because you interpret the Bible
incorrectly.

I think there is also some confusion on this issue because the word "soul"
can
be used to mean different things. I've heard older people use the word as in
"He's an old soul", which they are not at all talking about the person's
spirit
or soul but just about them as a person.
The word spirit may be a more appropriate word because there are references
to
this:
Exodus 31:3, 35:31
1 John 3:24 - "And this is how we know He lives in us: We know it by the
Spirit He
gave us."
There are other references too mumerous to list here also.

Mostly on Tuesday mornings
They use a flurgle-blothing machine to do it that was donated by General Motors
Sometimes it breaks down and they have to do the work on Friday afternoons
instead

The 'soul' is purely the creation of man. It is nothing more than myth and
fable!
