Re: Tower of Babel
Ok, so I finally told someone what has been stewing in my head for the
past half year or more. I told her "the story of the tower of babel is
like a parable". I told her that "to me it shows how man tried to put
its collectively mind together to in attempt to not only reach God but
perhaps be as powerful as him". Then I told her "God then gave us all
different languages, and by languages I take it to me motives."

So now I will try to explain myself.
1) The only way we can reach God is through his son Jesus Chist.
2) When we gather for one goal the human mind is so powerful, we have
seen this in previous historical events; the Wonders of the World are a
great example.
3) If God literally made us to speak different languages so that we
couldn't understand eachother, then how are we interpretting other
languages now?
4) It was our motives that he made different. Each person now with
their own will, and wanting something to be done their own way.
5) What is to keep us from building towers now? We are already in
space!

I see the tower as simply being a physical parable or metaphor for
something mental and spiritual that the "builders" we're trying to
accomplish. In accomplishing it, it would have led to mans disaster, so
instead God seperated our wills.

Only one language leads to heaven, and that is the spiritual language
of God, which can only be learned through constant communication with
him!

Hello,
Or, the Tower of Babel situation happened just as the Bible literally
says.
God did not want people at that time to congregate in just one
location, but rather to scatter themselves all over the earth. (Ge
9:7) That was the mandate given to Noah and his descendants; to
populate the whole earth, not just a small section of it.
But those builders of the Tower of Babel were trying to defy that
mandate from God, and build a city and be in just one basic location.
And to make matters worse, with the building of that tower, they
wanted to make a name for themselves, not God (Ge 11:4), so God
confused their languages so that they could not complete the project.
Thus they did end up being scattered after all, just as God had
commanded! (Ge 11:8,9)
Sincerely, James

Oh *****, James! I suppose that you still believe in the tooth fairy and
the Easter bunny too, eh?
Shalom,
Bill
