Hello,
Yes, many also persecuted Jesus and those first century Christians
when he first went and started his preaching campaign.
But if you are interested in the REAL answer to that question, here
was my response to the poster's inquiry:
"When there is a serious unsolved crime in a particular neighborhood,
why do policeman generally go knocking on doors in that neighborhood?
Why don't they just broadcast their questions on TV or something?
Because they know that they might miss someone just broadcasting their
desires over TV. Door to door is much more efficient.
Now let's apply that to God. If God really exists, and if God really
wants people to know about Him and obey His commands, what the best
way to reach them? Yes, go to their homes, where they work, wherever
people are gathered etc. In other words, God comes to you, you don't
first have to go to God.
Also, the first century Christians set the example of the methodology
of how God wants His messages spread. They also went 'door to door'
and "house to house". Ac 5:42,
"Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they
never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the
Christ." (NIV)
Also interestingly, during the last days right before the end comes,
if the Bible is really from God, you MUST find a world-wide preaching
campaign going on concerning God's KINGDOM. Mt 24:14,
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as
a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (NIV)
And this is being done as we speak, just as the Scripture says.
