Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, for one thing.
For another, are you saying there are no Iraqi civilians being killed
there, now? The numbers are climbing to approach about 100k.
If you make abortion illegal, are you then going to provide
contraceptives for free to anyone that wants them?
Are you going to provide free sex education to anyone and everyone?
Are you going to then outlaw rich people flying out of the country to
get abortions? Like they used to do when abortions were illegal?
That is the next logical step in your thought process.

Too bad he doesn't consider the lives of American soldiers and Iraqi

Why is it thaqt you are anti-abortion up to the time of birth, and
anti-children after that?

Nothing was accomplished there.
PBA's are *still* legal.
They *almost* were made illegal - but the Bush Regime added poison pill
wording.
AFTER all the votes were gathered, the NeoCons added a requirement that the
procedure not be performed even if the mother's life is in danger.
That, of course, was the end of it possibly becoming law.
No government worth its while makes it illegal to save a dying mother.
The law was never enacted.
Bush signed the bill, knowing it had no legal basis, to give lip-service to
the Religious whackos.
It worked. You bought into it. You got suckered.
You probably even think PBA's are illegal now, don't you?
They're not.
You NeoCons are remarkably stupid to think that supporting the slaughter of
Iraqis will somehow end abortion.

Nothing was added. The option for maternal life was not included. It's in

So, as you see, Bush has accomplished nothing in outlawing abortion.
That's in stark contrast to the bloodbath he created unncessarily in Iraq.

Yeah, but it wasn't *nearly* as friendly and productive as when Clinton did

No, the end result, at least to this point is, that they are still killing
each other. You can
"talk" until the cows come home, all the talk in the world does not change
the facts
on the ground, i.e. the continued "war" they are waging. Besides, it just
seems to me, that
when you have a group of Palestinians whose goal is the elimination of the
State of Israel, and
they are well armed and dedicated to that goal, unless you are able to
change their minds,
the killing will not stop. Becasue the State of Israel, is not going to
just do nothing about a
group of people that wants to eliminate their state.

I am not blaming anyone, nor am I giving anyone "credit". I am simply
stating what has
happened. Opening up a new channel of communication, is never a bad idea,
but in
the end, it is results that count. And the mere fact that they are still
killing each other
indicates to me, that unless we see some concrete results from the new
channel of
communication, or any new initiative, which includes what Bush is trying to
do, it will all
do very little good in the end.

They got middle-east warlords to sit down over snacks to work out their
problems - without throwing food at each other.

No they are not throwing food at each other, they just continue to kill each
other.
Perhaps if they did start to throw food at each other, they would actually
get serious
and stop killing each other.

Bush just takes a bad situation, with a thousand great solutions and one
bad one - and he picks the bad one.

I am going to make this real simple. You cannot have peace with anyone, as
long as
one or both are killing each other. You cannot have peace when there are
Palestinians
whose goal is the complete elimination of the state of Israel. All the
wishful thinking is
not going to get those whose goal is the elimination of the state of Israel
to lay down
their arms, unless there is a dramatic change in their attitude toward
Isarel, or unless the
current Palestinian leader is willing to take them on head on. The problem
with the latter, is he
may not live long enough to see it through.

Clinton and Carter did something Bush and his warlords will *never* be
able to do.

Carter got peace between Israel and Egypt. Clinton (with a big assist
from Bush41) got peace between Israel and Jordan.

True. But, it is also true there can be no peace so long as Israel is
unwilling to close almost all the settlements, which is a prerequisite
for a contiguous, viable Palestinian state. Clinton got Barak to that
point. In contrast, Bush has allowed Sharon to do proceed with
settlement expansion (forget about contraction). Will the Gaza pullout
be followed by a unilateral annexation of most of those settlements,
thus insuring there can be no Palestinian state? Will Bush let that happen?

I am not making the argument that people should not try to get the two
parties to "try" and achieve a peaceful solution. I am simply pointing out
that the only
way you can reach a peaceful solution is when both sides are willing to do
what is necessary to achieve peace.

No, you can only have peace, when both sides are willing to compromise. Let
us try to make this real simple. The Israeli's "occupy land that the
Palestinians
think belong to them. The problem is that Palestinians have not show a
willingness
to "compromise" what is the facts on the ground. As long as they are not
willing
to compromise and continue to kill Israeli's, the Israli's have no incentive
to reach
a negotiated settlement of the issue.
