"Scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate
knowledge ...
|
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my
spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto
you ...
|
I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out
my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at
nought all my counsel, and would none of my
reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will
mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh
as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a
whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon
you.
|
Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer;
they shall seek me early, but they shall not find
me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not
choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my
counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore
shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be
filled with their own devices. For the turning away
of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of
fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto
me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear
of evil" (Proverbs 1:22-33).
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel
of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his
delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law
doth he meditate day and night" (Psalms 1:1-2).
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a
man soweth, that shall he also reap" (Galatians 6:7).
"Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth
grace unto the lowly" (Proverbs 3:34).
"Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of
those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the
proud" (Psalms 123:4).
"They mocked the messengers of God, and despised his
words" (2 Chronicles 36:16).
"Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out;
yea, strife and reproach shall cease" (Proverbs
22:10).
"Be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made
strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a
consumption, even determined upon the whole earth"
(Isaiah 28:22).
