So what will God do after Earth is a cinder? |
Whether by God's hand as in Revelation, or by global warming (which looks
increasingly likely), or by a meteorite crash, or simply by the sun becoming
a red giant, in the end Earth will be a cinder.
Is God's experiment then over? What will he do with his time? Try again?
If he is all-knowing, standing outside time, he already knows the answers
to those questions. In fact, why did he bother to create anything in the
first place, seeing as he already knew what would happen by using his
imagination?
Is the whole creation thing just so that we humans can experience bit of
unenlightened existence? Unenlightened because God keeps from us all the
answers we need to know to gain a full understanding of our surroundings
before we are blotted out.
I guess that those who are privileged enough to avoid the blotting out and
get to heaven still won't be allowed to know as much as God in case his
ideas and plans are challenged, so it's probably not worth going really.
Or, finally, are we just in God's imagination anyway, and existence is a
mirage? That would be very disappointing and unexciting if it was the case,
but it might explain a lot.
Thinking is such fun.

To answer the question posed in your header: He'll continue to work very,
*very* hard at continuing to 'non-exist'. But that will be a very hard task
considering that he was born in and continues to reside entirely in man's
imagination. And there's nowhere else outside the land of imagination for
him to go.

Hello,
Thinking might be fun, but when it comes to talking about God etc,
truth in thinking is preferred.
God is NOT going to make the earth a cinder. We have God's word in the
Holy Bible that the earth will last forever. Ec 1:4,
"Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever."
(NIV)
God did not do all that work of creating and preparing the earth to
harbor life, in order to let it burn up or something. He created it to
be inhabited. Here is the Bible proof: Isa 45:18,
"For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is
God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not
create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited--..." (NIV)
Jesus believed God's word because he knew that humans would forever be
living on this earth. Mt 5:5,
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." (NIV)
It wouldn't make much sense to inherit a burnt up cinder, would it.
(there is Scripture talking about a some 'fiery' things going on and a
"new earth", but that isn't referring to the planet- more on this if
you wish)
Thus genuine Christians know that no global warming, or meteorite
crashes, nor anything else is going to completely destroy the earth.
God will not permit that because His word is always fulfilled. (Isa
55:11)
Concerning God knowing all things all the time, that is not what the
Bible teaches. Yes, God can know anything He wants at any time, when
He CHOOSES to do so. But God doesn't always choose to know everything.
We know this from various Bible accounts.
For example, notice this incident concerning the city of Sodom at Ge
18:20,21,
"20 Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so
great and their sin so grievous 21 that I will go down and see if what
they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I
will know."" (NIV)
Thus God sometimes chooses not to know about a particular thing or
situation, but He certainly has the capacity to if it pleases Him.
I hope this has helped you to see the Bible's real teaching on these
matters.
Sincerely, James

God's word doesn't mean much when he also said that the smoke of Edom would rise forever, yet there
is no smoke where Edom used to exist.
"And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the
land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof
shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it
for ever and ever." (Isa 34:9-12)

Hello,

Thinking isn't just 'fun'. It's essential if we want to call ourselves
intelligent beings. Thinking often solves problems. However, focusing
all your attention on one specific source, believing everything you
*believe* it says (according to your own preestablished belief and
preconceptions), and rejecting absolutely anything else, does not
constitute 'thinking'. In fact, it is a direct refusal to do anything
of the sort.
God is NOT going to make the earth a cinder. We have God's word in the
Holy Bible that the earth will last forever. Ec 1:4,
God might not. But as has been pointed out to you, the Sun one day
certainly will. As far as our ability to live on it is concerned, we
may well beat the Sun to it.
God did not do all that work of creating and preparing the earth to
harbor life, in order to let it burn up or something. He created it to
be inhabited. Here is the Bible proof: Isa 45:18,
Bible proof is proof only to those who already believe. And if those
who already believe believe as you do - that problems should be
approached with fingers in ears and eyes closed - then it becomes
crucial that they be removed from any position where their beliefs might
have an effect on humanity's response to these problems.
We've already tried the "bury your head in the sand and wait for the
problem to go away" gambit. It didn't go away. It got worse.
Jesus believed God's word because he knew that humans would forever be
living on this earth. Mt 5:5,
Jesus believed in God's word because Jesus believed in God. As do you.
Not everyone does - and, fortunately, of those who do not all believe as
you do.
It wouldn't make much sense to inherit a burnt up cinder, would it.
No, it wouldn't. Which is why we need to start facing facts right now
(in fact, it would've helped if we could've known and faced THESE facts
about a century ago, but still..). As I said, just denying the problem
and waiting for it to vanish has been tried.
(there is Scripture talking about a some 'fiery' things going on and a
"new earth", but that isn't referring to the planet- more on this if
you wish)
Oh, "some fiery things"? Just a few fiery things going on. Nothing
significant, of course. Nothing to see here, folks; go about your
business. It's just a few fiery things.
New Earth? I doubt anyone'll notice.
Give me strength...
And lest you interpret that as a request for more preaching - it wasn't.
Thus genuine Christians
You have no right to speak for 'genuine Christians'. It's not your
place to decide who's a 'genuine' Christian and who isn't. What you
mean by 'genuine Christians' is simply people who believe as you do,
which isn't necessarily the same thing.
Concerning God knowing all things all the time, that is not what the
Bible teaches. Yes, God can know anything He wants at any time, when
He CHOOSES to do so. But God doesn't always choose to know everything.
We know this from various Bible accounts.
Then your God is an idiot. Ignorance might be an excuse for all sorts
of things - but wilful ignorance is deliberate stupidity.
I hope this has helped you to see the Bible's real teaching on these
matters.
1. No, it hasn't - it's just shown us what James thinks is the Bible's
'real' teachings;
2. It doesn't matter how much you deny that night follows day - it does
and will.

Hello,
Thinking might be fun, but when it comes to talking about God etc,
truth in thinking is preferred.
It's amusing how you people talk a lot about truth, yet what you talk
about is a lie.
God is NOT going to make the earth a cinder. We have God's word in the
Holy Bible that the earth will last forever. Ec 1:4,
The earth will be a casualty when the sun supernovas. Bible berses won't
stop that.
"Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever."
(NIV)
Gee, look at that, another biblical lie. Who'da thunk?
God did not do all that work of creating and preparing the earth to
harbor life, in order to let it burn up or something. He created it to
be inhabited. Here is the Bible proof: Isa 45:18,
The omniscient god is unaware of simple astronomy?
"For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is
God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not
create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited--..." (NIV)
Bible verses will not stop the inevitable.
Jesus believed God's word because he knew that humans would forever be
living on this earth. Mt 5:5,
Great, a myth believes in another myth. Do you people ever address
reality?
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." (NIV)
Gee, look at that, another biblical lie. Name one "meek" who has
inherited the earth.
It wouldn't make much sense to inherit a burnt up cinder, would it.
That kind of circular logic never makes sense.
(there is Scripture talking about a some 'fiery' things going on and a
"new earth", but that isn't referring to the planet- more on this if
you wish)
Reality is not based on scripture. Scripture is a product of people who
knew very little about reality, so they made up a bunch of nonsense to
fill in the gaps.
Thus genuine Christians know that no global warming, or meteorite
crashes, nor anything else is going to completely destroy the earth.
Yes, and this is why they don't care about conserving resources or
polluting our environment. They think "God" is going to fix it for them.
God will not permit that because His word is always fulfilled. (Isa
55:11)
Circular argument, non-sequitur.

Nope, he stepped out of the pan into the fire (pardon the pun) before I can get
to him if he keeps up his ways.

No, he's cooking his own goose.

You could take a leave out of your Catholic Crutch's book, and torture

Read your Bible[TM], Duke - and not just the sanitised bits you get
served up at the indoctronation top-up sessions you call mass.
And while you are at it, read up on the actions of your church,
operating under an infallible pope.

The Mass was directed to our attention by Christ at the Last Supper.
And while you are at it, read up on the actions of your church,
operating under an infallible pope.
Well, the Pope has only spoken infallibly twice in the last 200 years, and both
involved the Blessed Virgin Mary - 1) her Immculate Conception and 2) her
Assumpton into Heaven, Body and Soul.
Did you have something else in mind?

You have repeated this puerile comment countless times, so it got me to

this inevitable event into something fun and pleasant for you? That you
will, in fact, "enjoy" your funeral?
