Some questions |
Why must we read everything in an old book when it was all made up anyway?
What makes what was made up one and a half thousand years ago better than
what is made up today?
Did God only speak to us then?
Why would he have stop?
When did he stop speaking to us?
Why don't christians believe that there are prophets now?
Did they become extinct?
When did they become extinct?
How do we know that the religious clergy aren't making things up?
What makes christians think that the holy spirit is policing every word that
is spoken?

Hello,
God has not ended His speaking to us. He does so by means of His Son
through His written word, the Holy Bible. Here is How God tells it. He
1:1,2,
"1. In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at
many times and in various ways,
2. but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he
appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe."
(NIV)
If you want to discuss those other questions, just let me know.
Sincerely, James

James, I doubt whether we would be able to discuss this because I think
you've already made up your mind like so many others that the bible is the
indisputable word of God.
If you would be willing to discuss this subject impartially and with an open
mind then perhaps we could.
As you well know, the one you call Satan can quote and inspire scripture
also, so it would be unwise to assume that the bible does not contain some
of his words.
Also, could the bible remain true to a God's word without being littered
with man's passion driven conjecturing?
Don't think that the holy spirit will over-ride the free choice of man's
mistranslation and distortion if man has chosen to do so. If we are given
free choice in this world then distorting 2000 year old writings would all
be part of that choice.
If the holy spirit redirects us at our every turn of thought which we have
chosen to think and write then what was the purpose of our free choice in
this life in the first place?
Andrew.

The purpose of man's free choice is to test him to see if he is worthy to
become an angel of God in the afterlife. God's angels want to obey Him. You
must learn to yield to His will to become an angel. His will now is for you
to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and to accept Him as your Lord and
Saviour and to start trying to not sin. And to follow God's Word the New
Testament. (The King James Version is the most accurate.)
