Object: Some Questions about understanding Bible - Part I
- If blood of Christ was shed as a sacrifice in "Garden" then was there
any need to shedding blood on cross again?
* [Luke - Chapter 22]
44: And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was
as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
- Does "Lord" mean God? How many "Lords" do we have ?
When Christ is described as "Lord of Lords" then who are these other
Lords? Is God LORD of Lord of Lords ?
* [Luke - Chapter 21]
42: And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto
my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 43: Till I make thine enemies thy
footstool.
* [Revelation - Chapter 17]
14: These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome
them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings:
* [Revelation - Chapter 19]
16: And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF
KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
- Has God Children? Are we "Children of God"-(or His people?) or
"Children of Christ"(His Word) ?
* [Hebrews - Chapter 2]
13: And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the
children which God hath given me.
14: Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he
also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he
might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15: And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime
subject to bondage.
16: For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on
him the seed of Abraham.

On 9 May 2005 07:57:09 -0700,
spake
thusly:

- Does "Lord" mean God? How many "Lords" do we have ?
When Christ is described as "Lord of Lords" then who are these other
Lords? Is God LORD of Lord of Lords ?

I'll answer just one. A ruler was also called, "lord".
it is a statement that Jesus is supreme over all.

===>Curiously, the name for "God" most often used in
the Hebrew ("OT") material is ADON, the name of the god of
AKHENATON, the Egyptian pharaoh.
The blessing:
"May ADON make his face shine upon you"
is clearly an AKHENATON-type formula.
Also, the name in the Greek ("NT") material is THEOS,
which is a variation of ZEUS. -- L.
