My hopes as concerning who replaces Oconner(sp).
For decades now, due to the Supreme Court's either legislation from the
bench, or terribly misinterpreting the US Constitution, by trying to claim
that the it allows them to abridge the free exercise of religion, on the
pretense that the so called separation of church and state is somehow part
of the Constitution, has been removing God from our heritage, from public
places, the Ten Commandments, crosses, incased Bibles, prayer, and etc.
Some Christians are hoping for a pro-life justice, or anti-homosexual, or
some such, but IF these are problems rooted in the removal of God, these
things are to me *secondary*, as it is far more important that the new
justice be one which will vote on the side of God returning to our parks,
schools, and other public places. (then if these *secondary* things, like
the abortion issue, are against God, the return of God will address these
issues)
This too may benifit those of us who fear a religious take over, as instead
of the pretense that the first amendment advocates government interference
in religion (which I cannot see in the wording); the *obvious* truth of the
first amendment will come out, in that it gives religion absolute *freedom*
to do whatever it wants everywhere, anywhere, anytime, while the
government's hands are tied, being disallowed to do *anything* which might
abridge each person's (in government or otherwise) *free exercise
thereof*... And thus might bring about a push for a NEW amendment,
*allowing* *legally* the government to do what it is already doing now
*illegally*
