Terri Schiavo....where are the Faith Healers? |
Where are the Faith Healers, in the Terri Schiavo case? Where is Benny Hinn,
who has whole masses of people "slain in the spirit" and healed in public.
Where is Robert Tilton reaching out through the TV with the Schindler's letter
in his hand. Why hasn't Peter Poppof sent his vial of holy healing water from
Russia to the hospice in Flroida. Why hasn't Pat Robertson, on his 700 Club
show, spoken out in prayer that God is healing Terri Schiavo and restoring her
brain?
Wouldn't such a public display of God's healing power establish his existence to
the entire world. Would we not have millions of new converts to Christianity,
and a massive revival of spirituality in the world?
This is not to desparage the millions of Christians around the world who
believe in God (as do I) and his ability and willingness to heal our diseases
(hello, modern medicine and science).
But I do mean it to be a shot across the bow at the charlatains and snake-oil
peddlers who call themselves Televangelists and Faith-healers. These people
feed off the hope of the sick in this world, only so they can increase their
own wealth, power and ego.
My mother had ovarian cancer in the summer of 2002. She had had a hysterectomy
a few years before, but she wanted to, and was able to, keep one ovary for
hormones. Eventually it turned cancerous, and they discovered it and removed
it when it was considered at stage 2. She went through several months of chemo
(lost all her hair and was very self-conscious about it) and hoped that she
would be free of it.
But the cancer was resistant to the chemo. She was still weak, and was having
trouble breathing. Tests showed that the cancer was back, and causing blood
clots that was going towards her lungs. They put in some sort of metal "mesh"
in her veins that was supposed to help keep any clots from going anywhere near
her vital organs.
My mom was very religious. She had gone to a evangelical church for almost the
last 20 years, and believed that God was going to heal her. So she talked to
her doctor and got his ok for her to go to a Benny Hinn revival meeting in July
of 2002 in Toronto.
Of course, after filling out a pre-screening postcard, she got called up on
stage. Benny laid hands on her, with a mild amount of pushing, and she fell
over backwards in prayer. When she got up, she felt like she had more energy
than she had in months. She walked out of there convinced she had been healed.
The euphoria and the adrenaline lasted for that evening. The weakness came
back the next day. The difficulty breathing came back. The problems she was
having with her blood prevented further surgery and getting back on a different
round of chemo. On Labor Day, 2002, she had a stroke, and the cancer continued
to spread. She died on my 31st birthday, September 30, 2002.
My mom didn't delay any surgeries, or skip any treatments due to believing she
had been healed at the Benny Hinn revival. If she had, you'd probably be
hearing about my lawsuit against him, rather than just reading my diary.
See, if you make the mistake of watching guys like Benny Hinn on TV, whether on
late night TV or when he gets interviewed by idiots like Larry King, what you
don't see is the back of the stadium. You don't see the rows of paralyzed
people with portable respirators and oxygen. Benny doesn't pull them onstage
and tell them to get up and walk. He doesn't go near them. He grabs the
people who have the non-visible diseases. He grabs people who are weak, but
will be able to walk out of the wheelchair for a few steps with their increased
adrenaline and euphoria.
But it's all a sham.
So, this is my call out to all the so-called Faith Healers out there today.
Hop on a plane. Divert your seminar, your revival down to Florida (where most
of you live anyways so you don't have to pay state income tax), and prove that
you aren't frauds. Prove that you have a God's annointing flowing through you
to provide healing for the sick and infirmed.
Cowards.

I want so bad to call in to the local religious talk show on the radio
and ask him to heal Terri, but they would just say that they haven't got
permission from Michael to go anywhere near. So why couldn't they heal
her remotely? Well, that would be hard to prove that it was them. There
would be any number of excuses.

Robertsons and the Oral and Richard Roberts, and the Ken Hagins and
the Ken Copelands,
who once again are proven to be the false prophets we non-Pretenders
claim they are.
If merely being in the same room will cause a terminal cancer patient
to be healed, why doesn't brother Benny visit Terri?
An EXCELLENT observation. I wonder how the pretenders will respond, if
they respond at all.

I know you're being facetious, but how can a person in a 15 year coma
"have enough faith?"
She's also Roman Catholic (or was), so she would not be known to have
faith in the faith healing frauds.
