Texas governor's religious remarks slammed
SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry has drawn criticism
from rival candidates for saying he agrees non-Christians are condemned
to spend eternity in hell.
Perry was among some 60 mostly Republican candidates for Tuesday's
midterm election attending a Sunday service at San Antonio's
Cornerstone Church, where pastor John Hagee said in his sermon
non-Christians were "going straight to hell with a non-stop ticket,"
The Dallas Morning News reported.
Afterward, Perry told reporters there was nothing in the sermon he
could disagree with, prompting quick condemnations from opponents.
"He doesn't think very differently from the Taliban, does he?" said
independent candidate Kinky Friedman. "Being obsessed with who's going
to heaven and who's going to hell is kind of a pathetic waste of time."
Democrat Chris Bell said a state leader should have been more cautious
in his remarks.
"God is the only one who can make the decision as to who gets into the
kingdom of heaven," Bell said.

Great. So now I can assume the governor of my state, without the benefit of
trial, has decided that in agreement with his god, I deserve to be tortured
forever.
No wonder I voted against the *****.

He should be more cautions in his way of life. "More cautious in his

unemployed.

Christians, in general, aren't known for their education or cognitive
skills. Perry, and Bush, are grand examples of mental toddlerhood.

For starters, technically we're not fighting against any country. Our
national security team is so incredibly incompetent, our soldiers are
dying in countries whose governments are friendly to us. We're
fighting against a small number of terrorists and a huge number of
insurgents who are unhappy about our invading, bombing, and occupying
their country.
But I assume you refer to the small number of Muslim extremists.
Here's a handy Boraxo guide to the vital differences between them and
the U.S.:
- Muslim fundamentalists fly in to rage if you make a cartoon about
their most important religious figure. American fundamentalists fly in
to a rage if you burn a flag.
- Muslim fundamentalists kill rape victims. American fundamentalists
kill the doctors who end the unwanted pregnancies of rape victims.
- Muslim fundamentalists severely discriminate against anyone born a
female. American fundamentalists severely discriminate against anyone
born a homosexual.
- Muslim fundamentalists selectively interpret certain passages in the
Koran, while ignoring others, to justify their cruel beliefs. American
fundamentalists selectively interpret certain passages in the Bible,
while ignoring others, to justify their cruel beliefs.
See, completely different!
In fairness, I haven't heard about any extremist mullahs getting caught
patronizing a prostitute or buying illegal recreational drugs, so
perhaps they have one up in that respect over the American version of
the Taliban.

I used to be a Southern Baptist. To a SB, *everyone* not in the room at
the moment is goin' to hell. We's all goin' ta hebbin together, and
they's all goin' ta hay-ell.
Didja hear the one about the SoBap marooned on a desert island? When
the Navy rescued him, they were impressed about the structures he'd
built on the island. "What's that one?", asked one sailor. "That's my
house.", the SoBap said. "Nice work!", the sailor said. "How about the
second one?" "Oh, that's my church!", the SoBap said. The sailor gave
him a funny look. "Ooo-kay...whatever. Hey, how about that third one?
What's that one for?"
