WASHINGTON (AP) -- A woman plowed her car through a crowded street festival
Saturday night, injuring about 35 people, including two police officers who
drove their motor scooters into her path attempting to stop her, authorities
said.
Police said seven of the victims, including two children under age 3,
suffered major injuries.
Officers caught up with the driver, whom they identified as Tonya Bell, 30,
of Oxon Hill, Maryland, near the site of the festival in the city's
Anacostia neighborhood.
She was arrested and charged with aggravated assault while armed. The
"armed" part of the charge refers to the car. District of Columbia Police
Chief Cathy L. Lanier said additional charges are pending.
Police said Bell had a 7-year-old child in the car with her. (Watch victims

They were conducting blood tests that would show whether alcohol or drugs
were involved.
"We're still trying to piece together exactly just what happened that led up
to this," Lanier said at the scene.
She said a vehicle believed to be Bell's was driving erratically and struck
a police car and fled the scene about a half-hour before the crash at the
festival, which occurred at about 8 p.m.
Alan Etter, a spokesman for the District of Columbia fire department, said
authorities believe Bell was going about 70 mph when she came through the
festival.
The scene cordoned off Saturday night extended for several blocks,
reflecting the vehicle's long path of destruction. Litter and debris from
festival food stands were scattered in the street.
Witnesses described an extended period of mayhem in which the driver started
off slowly through some closed streets and finally hit the accelerator on
the avenue running through the heart of Unifest, an annual event sponsored
by a church. The car hit a stage where people were dancing, witnesses said.
Ryland Anderson, 19, and Philemon Walker, 24, told The Washington Post they
were about to cross the street as the festival was winding down when the car
sped past. They described strollers being flung into the air and said they
saw the body of a man apparently lodged in the station wagon's wheel well.
"She was driving like 'if you're in my way, you're going to get hit,'"
Walker said.
David White, president of the Chicago Shannon Civic Association, said Bell
grew up in the neighborhood and is well known.
White said he and other residents saw her in the area on Saturday morning,
driving erratically and clipping parked cars. He said he confronted her, but
she acted like she didn't know him.
"I said, 'Tonya, what are you doing?' She was sweating like a race horse. We
tried our best to stop her. ... She was just in a deranged state of mind,"
White said.

God's love and its gift
I. THE LOVE OF GOD.
1. If God so loved this guilty world, then what an unplumbed depth of grace
must have been in His heart! For the object of His love is not the world in
its first condition when He pronounced it "very good," but the world ruined
by sin and condemned for apostasy. There would have been no wonder had the
world been drowned. Yet without any change in our claims or character He
loved us. And this love is not a mere relenting which might lead to a
respite, or simple regret which might end in a sigh. There is no merit in
loving what is lovely. There is nothing about man but his misery to attract
the Divine attachment. Man's sin is not his misfortune, but his fault. And
the marvel is there is nothing God hates so much as sin, and yet no one He
loved so much as the sinner.
2. If God so loved this little world, then surely His love is disinterested.
This orb is truly a "little one," yet it has called out emotion, which
mightier spheres had failed to elicit.
3. If God loved this fallen world and not the world of fallen angels His
love must be sovereign. "Be not high minded, but fear." God spared not the
angels that sinned, and if thou art spared thou hast no reason to boast.
4. The fervour and mightiness of this love arrest our attention -- "so."
II. THE GIFT OF GOD'S LOVE. We estimate the value of a gift by various
criteria.
1. The resources of the giver. Our Lord declared that the poor widow gave
truly more than the wealthy worshippers.
2. The motives of the giver. One may heap favours on a fallen foe to wound
his pride.
3. The manner. If it be withheld until wrung out, or if it be offered in a
surly spirit, it sinks at once in importance below the lesser boon offered
in frank and spontaneous sympathy.
4. The condition of the recipient -- whether rich or needy, and in what
degree of need, and the extent to which the gift is adapted to him.
Now let the love of God be tested by these criteria.
1. The resources of the Giver are infinite; but in the donation of Christ
you see the limits of possibility. If Christ be God what gift superior can
be presented? or if He be the Son of God what richer love could be
exhibited?
2. God's motives were perfectly unselfish.
3. His gift is the only one that could have profited us.
4. What adaptation there is in it to man's dire need I
III. THE DESIGN OF GOD'S LOVE.
1. To rescue man from perishing.
2. To confer upon man the boon of everlasting life.
3. To do this for all who believe:
(1) of every character;(2) country;(3) rank;(4) age.

awakened Tahitians. One of his auditors asked: "Is it then really true that
God has so loved you and us that He gave His only begotten Son for us?" Nott
stedfastly affirmed that the gospel which he was preaching was really true;
upon which the Tahitian cried out: "Oh, and thou canst speak of such love

CNN) -- A Kansas man appeared before a judge Thursday on charges he abducted
a teenager from an Overland Park, Kansas, store parking lot and killed her.
Edwin Roy Hall, 26, of Olathe, Kansas, appeared via closed-circuit
television from the New Century Adult Detention Facility in Gardner, Kansas.
Court records posted online indicate he told the judge he had not yet hired
an attorney but plans to do so.
Hall is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in the
death of Kelsey Smith, 18.
Smith, a recent high school graduate, had been missing since Saturday
evening, when she went shopping at a Target store for a gift for her
boyfriend.
During the search for the teen, police released a pair of videos. The first
showed Smith leaving a store at about the same time as a man with a goatee.
The second, which is of poor quality, shows a woman police believe to be
Smith being forced into a car by a man. (Watch the struggle in the parking

Smith's body was found Wednesday afternoon near a lake in a park across the
state line in Missouri. Police have not said how she died. (Map)
Hall, from Olathe, Kansas, would face 25 years to life in prison if
convicted of the murder charge and at least 12 years on the aggravated
kidnapping charge, District Attorney Phill Kline said at a news conference
late Wednesday.
"The community has lost a vibrant and promising life, and the family has
suffered an unimaginable tragedy," Kline said, hours after police located
the teen's body.
Positive identification is pending, but police are almost certain it is

"I realize this is not the preferred conclusion," Overland Park Police Chief
John Douglass said. "While we cannot give (the Smith family) their daughter
back, we can at least give them justice."

tips given to authorities detailed an individual matching the description of
a man caught by surveillance cameras in the department store parking lot.
"When we saw the videotape he came right behind her from the parking lot and
it appeared he followed her there," Douglass said of Smith's apparent

Another videotape released by police earlier in the week shows Smith
entering and leaving the store. Other footage shows a young man with a
goatee leaving the store shortly after she exited.
Later, a woman who appears to be Smith can be seen putting packages into her
car when someone runs toward her and shoves her in the car. The car then
pulls away.
"The person we believe who was the person of interest leaving the Target
store was Hall," Douglass said. "We have located the truck we believe
matched the description."

deciding afterwards to arrest him, Douglass said.

stood to make a short statement together.

You militant atheists pretty much all work from the same script.
Although viewing yourselves as "free thinkers", you all have a Party Line
you follow rather closely.
It isn't difficult to anticipate your arguments on any
given point. Most intelligent religious individuals almost always can
correctly predict what
you'll say next.Interestingly, militant atheists get much of their beliefs
about "Christianity" from liberal Christians.
They'll pejoratively label all Christians as "Fundies",
then presumptively attack liberal theological concepts
they suppose us "Fundies" subscribe to !
Nearly all militant atheists are followers of the
religion of Scientism. Their priests wear white lab
coats. Their sacramental objects are the microscope,
the telescope, and the test tube. Blasphemy is to
deny the ultimate authority of science.
But the militant atheists -the ones who have devoted
their lives to refuting Christianity- are almost like the
demons ...who believe more firmly in God's existence
than do Christians !
It can unequivocally be stated that militant atheists are some
of the people who most solidly believe in God !
Ain't talking 'practical atheists' here ...those who don't
even think much about atheism. They're the true
atheists.
Professional atheists who've dedicated themselves
to eradicating the Lord do so because they hate Him.
They're the God-haters.
To which they'll invariably reply: 'How can we hate
something we don't believe in ?'.
Exactly ! It's their belief in God which drives them to

Smith's body was found Wednesday afternoon near a lake in a park across
the state line in Missouri. Police have not said how she died. (Map)
Hall, from Olathe, Kansas, would face 25 years to life in prison if
convicted of the murder charge and at least 12 years on the aggravated
kidnapping charge, District Attorney Phill Kline said at a news conference
late Wednesday.
"The community has lost a vibrant and promising life, and the family has
suffered an unimaginable tragedy," Kline said, hours after police located
the teen's body.
Positive identification is pending, but police are almost certain it is

"I realize this is not the preferred conclusion," Overland Park Police
Chief John Douglass said. "While we cannot give (the Smith family) their
daughter back, we can at least give them justice."
The police chief said Hall's arrest "was the result of an intense
investigation over the last four days."
Hall was considered a "person of interest" after one of the more than 500
tips given to authorities detailed an individual matching the description
of a man caught by surveillance cameras in the department store parking
lot.
"When we saw the videotape he came right behind her from the parking lot
and it appeared he followed her there," Douglass said of Smith's apparent
abduction.
Another videotape released by police earlier in the week shows Smith
entering and leaving the store. Other footage shows a young man with a
goatee leaving the store shortly after she exited.
Later, a woman who appears to be Smith can be seen putting packages into
her car when someone runs toward her and shoves her in the car. The car
then pulls away.
"The person we believe who was the person of interest leaving the Target
store was Hall," Douglass said. "We have located the truck we believe
matched the description."
Police interviewed Hall, along with "numerous individuals," on Wednesday,
deciding afterwards to arrest him, Douglass said.
At the end of the news conference Smith's parents, Missy and Greg Smith,
stood to make a short statement together.
While holding his wife's hand, Greg Smith thanked everyone involved in the
search, concluding "we are very pleased an arrest has been made in this
case. Thank you very much."
You militant atheists pretty much all work from the same script.
Although viewing yourselves as "free thinkers", you all have a Party Line
you follow rather closely.
It isn't difficult to anticipate your arguments on any
given point. Most intelligent religious individuals almost always can
correctly predict what
you'll say next.Interestingly, militant atheists get much of their beliefs
about "Christianity" from liberal Christians.
They'll pejoratively label all Christians as "Fundies",
then presumptively attack liberal theological concepts
they suppose us "Fundies" subscribe to !
Nearly all militant atheists are followers of the
religion of Scientism. Their priests wear white lab
coats. Their sacramental objects are the microscope,
the telescope, and the test tube. Blasphemy is to
deny the ultimate authority of science.
But the militant atheists -the ones who have devoted
their lives to refuting Christianity- are almost like the
demons ...who believe more firmly in God's existence
than do Christians !
It can unequivocally be stated that militant atheists are some
of the people who most solidly believe in God !
Ain't talking 'practical atheists' here ...those who don't
even think much about atheism. They're the true
atheists.
Professional atheists who've dedicated themselves
to eradicating the Lord do so because they hate Him.
They're the God-haters.
To which they'll invariably reply: 'How can we hate
something we don't believe in ?'.
Exactly ! It's their belief in God which drives them to
relentlessly attack Him.
Run of the mill, everyday 'practical atheists' don't
give God a second thought. They're the ones
I worry about.
Whereas militant atheists are fighting against the
innate knowledge of suppressed in their hearts.
As a militant atheist I can unequivocally state that there is no time in
your life that you
totally disbelieved in God. And -in fact- were driven to
work against the Lord by belief in Him !
It isn't that militant atheists don't believe God exists.
Instead: That they don't want God to exist.
