the all-powerful "god", supposed "creator" of heaven and earth, yet can't
stop a simple mine explosion from happening. Hmmmm.

BEIJING, China -- An explosion at a coal mine in northeastern China has
killed at least 68 miners and has left another 79 trapped underground,
according to the nation's state-run Xinhua news agency.
More than 220 miners were underground in the Dongfeng coal mine in Qitaihe,
Heilongjiang province, when the blast struck on Sunday evening. About 40 of
the miners were able to escape just after the blast, the report said.
Rescuers pulled another 34 miners out alive, while the bodies of another
dead 68 miners have been recovered from the mine, Xinhua reported.
The cause of the blast was under investigation.
A man who answered the telephone at the coal mine told The Associated Press
he was too busy to talk and hung up.
Around 126 rescuers were working on Monday to get to the 100 miners still
trapped.
State television showed ambulances rushing to the scene and rescuers
escorting a survivor from the mineshaft, his face and clothes covered in
soot.
The explosion knocked out all ventilation systems, Xinhua said, but they
were working again on Monday.
The mine is owned by the Heilongjiang Longme Mining (Group) Co., a
conglomerate of four state-owned coal businesses in the province, Xinhua
said.
China has the world's largest and deadliest mining industry, with accidents
at mines killing thousands every year. Fires, floods, cave-ins and
explosions occur almost daily.
Beijing has tried to crack down on unsafe conditions nationwide, but
authorities say local officials leave many questionable mines open in order
to keep unemployment low.
Efforts to shut down dangerous mines have been complicated by the country's
soaring demands for power to drive its booming economy.
Last week, water was shut down for more five days in the Heilongjiang's
capital, Harbin after a November 13 explosion at a chemical plant spewed
toxins into the river. (Full story)
