The Body of Christ and the Church |
I have seen about as much fighting here as a body can watch. I am
appalled at how fellow believers are treating each other. I am using
this newsgroup in my next Bible Study.
I hope you realize that unbelievers see your behaviour. Jesus said
..."they will know you by what you do."
1 Cor 12:12-17 says that we are all of one body. Each of us has a talent
or skill that together, we can accomplish great things for the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit.
The Holy Bible, New King James Version
1 Corinthians 12:12 - 19 (NKJV) 12For as the body is one and has many
members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body,
so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one
body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been
made to drink £into one Spirit. 14For in fact the body is not one
member but many. 15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I
am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16And if the ear
should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it
therefore not of the body? 17If the whole body were an eye, where would
be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?
18But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just
as He pleased. 19And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
We need unity and end all of this divisiveness. We should all be able to
come here and discuss our views and understandings of what we read in
the Bible without having all this bickering and gnashing of teeth.

Believers make up about 2% of the people that post
here. That is a fact you need to examine for yourself.
We have people in here promoting "feel good" false
gospels, claiming to be Christians while denying the
Trinity, promoting pro-homosexual agendas and
abortion, while yet, claiming to be Christians. These
things are not the mark of true Christians and the
Bible teaches to rebuke them with all authority and
to outright reject them, because they are not simply,
"the unsaved", but rather, heretics who claim to have
salvation and to those, Jesus said...
"You are of your father the Devil and the lusts of your
father you will do." - John 8:44a
Paul said to Titus, a pastor, when he sent him to
correct the heresies building up in the churches...
Titus 3:10-11
10) After the first and second warning, reject a man
of heresy,
11) knowing that he who is such has been perverted,
and sins, being self-condemned.
And he said...
"Speak these things, and exhort, and rebuke with
all authority. Let no one despise you." - Titus 2:15
1 Cor 12:12-17 says that we are all of one body. Each of us has a talent
or skill that together, we can accomplish great things for the Father,

It says that of actual Christians, not pretenders.
By accepting them, the inside of the church
looks no different than the outside of the church.
Do you think that was God's goal?
And bear in mind, you are doing the very same thing
now, that you claim we shouldn't be doing. :)
We need unity and end all of this divisiveness.
I will gladly be and seek to be divided from those
who claim to be Christians and teach heresies.
That is what God's word says to do. We are to
"come out from among them" and then God will
accept us. See 2 Cor 6:14.

Dave, God accepts us through no act of our own. Their is *nothing* we
can do to make ourselves worthy of him. I am as much a sinner as
anyone, and please feel free to quote me on that. If I wasn't I would
have no *need* for Jesus.
Strangely, almost the entirety of that favourite chapter of yours in
Titus is about Grace, and about how we are saved because of God's
goodness to us, and not through anything we ourselves have done. Paul
says,
"3For we also were once thoughtless and senseless, obstinate and
disobedient, deluded and misled; [we too were once] slaves to all sorts
of cravings and pleasures, wasting our days in malice and jealousy and
envy, hateful (hated, detestable) and hating one another.
4But when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man
[as man] appeared,
5He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had
done, but because of His own pity and mercy, by [the] cleansing [bath]
of the new birth (regeneration) and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
6Which He poured out [so] richly upon us through Jesus Christ our
Savior.
7[And He did it in order] that we might be justified by His grace
(by His favor, wholly undeserved), [that we might be acknowledged and
counted as conformed to the divine will in purpose, thought, and
action], and that we might become heirs of eternal life according to
[our] hope.
8This message is most trustworthy, and concerning these things I
want you to insist steadfastly, so that those who have believed in
(trusted in, relied on) God may be careful to apply themselves to
honorable occupations and to doing good, for such things are [not only]
excellent and right [in themselves], but [they are] good and profitable
for the people.
9But avoid stupid and foolish controversies and genealogies and
dissensions and wrangling about the Law, for they are unprofitable and
futile."
....it's a wonderful chapter, full of Grace and hope and gentleness. In
the context of this chapter, do you think Paul was really intending us
to rebuke and condemn just anyone for being wrong, given that God was
patient enough to deal with us when we were equally wrong? Why does
Paul say we are to reject "a man who is factious [a heretical sectarian
and cause of divisions]"? For whose good? Clearly, two verses earlier,
he says he wants us to insist on the idea of Grace and our dependence
on it, and make sure that others know that salvation is God's gift, not
a result of our own actions. Is it possible, then, that verse 10 (given
that this is a letter, and therefore has a certain direction and focus)
might be referring to those who say our salvation is dependent on our
actions and not on the wholly undeserved gift of God's Grace?

No, you're right, I didn't engage that bit of what you said.
Do you think (honest question) "were once" means that we don't sin
anymore? Certainly, I know that I am made clean by Grace and because
Jesus took (and continues to take) my sin on himself, but I am still a
sinner. I still commit sin; I still do thoughtless things and think
hateful thoughts.
....I guess I just don't understand you, in a general sort of a way. I
don't understand your anger.
Micah 6:8
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

"come out from among them" and then God will
accept us. See 2 Cor 6:14.
This wasnt intended to blindly accept what they say. I see what they do
and what they teach and I recognize it as false. I can carry on a
conversation with them discussing what they do and teach without
fighting like 3 year olds.
The Bible teaches to reject them.
Paul says if any teaches a different message than the one
teach, they are false teachers.
Then reject them. Don't quote Scripture, while denying
the Scriptures.
Have you given them the first and second warnings?????

I have seen about as much fighting here as a body can watch. I am
appalled at how fellow believers are treating each other. I am using
this newsgroup in my next Bible Study.
I hope you realize that unbelievers see your behaviour. Jesus said
.."they will know you by what you do."
Each of us has a talent
or skill that together, we can accomplish great things for the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit.

I've been much more generous than that. :)
