COLUMBIA, South Carolina (AP) -- Three people were found slain Thursday in a
drainage pipe near an apartment complex, and police said a former boyfriend
of one of the victims would be charged with murder.
The bodies of a woman who had been stabbed to death and two men who had been
fatally shot were found by a neighbor near the woman's apartment, officials
said.
Prosecutors told police to draw up three murder warrants against Charles
Gamble, 24, who was the woman's ex-boyfriend and the father of her son,
Police Chief Dean Crisp said. (Watch investigators work the scene around the

Gamble, who turned himself in earlier Thursday for questioning, also will be
charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm in commission
of a felony, he said.
"We are confident we have the individual responsible for these tragic
murders," Crisp said.
Investigators were reviewing several potential motives, including a possible
domestic dispute, police said.
Rodrena Patrick, 20, who lives in the apartment complex, said she was a
close friend of Gamble's former girlfriend, Charlene Octavia Yarbrough, 19.
She said Gamble had been living at the complex until the couple got into a
fight about a month ago.
The couple's child had been taken into protective custody, she said.
The other victims were identified as Marcus Antonio Wilson, 26, and Marquis
Mitchell, 25.
Gamble, who has a criminal record dating back to a 2000 grand larceny
charge, was on probation for a stalking conviction, Crisp said.
