The Great Flood Evidence
There is much evidence for a global flood in geology and fossils. Rubble
drift and ossiferous fissures are but two observations that show great
movements of water. Rubble drift shows sediments consisting of massive,
angular unrolled meterial deposited in local pockes and catchment areas.
These are many times full of shattered bones. Ossiferous fissures are
found all over the surface of the world some measuring 140 to 300 feet in
depth. These fissures were filled with debris soon after they were opened
and this could explain why the did not close again. An examination of
the debris in these fissures shows remains of elephant, rhinoceros,
hippopotamus, raindeer, horse, hog and oxen. These bones must have filled
in these fissures after death because there are no complete skeletons and
the bones have not been rolled or weathered. The bones are cemented
together by calcite indicating hydralic deposition.
These deposits are all around the earth but a look at the fissures on the
Rock of Gibraltar running 300 feet deep and are found at different
elevations(highest one is at 100 feet). These deposits show also contain
many different animal bones as described above and in one of them man-made
stone implaments have been found.
Deposits on the Island of Sicily hold a huge number of hippo bones so well
preserved that they can be carved. More that 20 tons of these bones were
shipped for commercial purposes. In Russia a large deposit of these bones
contained 4500 bones of bear coming from at least 100 animals along with
cats, hyenas, horses, boars, mannoth, rhinos, aurocheses, and deer, as
well as insectivores, rodents, sahres, otter, martens, wolves and foxes.
All these bones found in these fissures appear to be the product of huge
masses of water moving at great speed.

How could a flood deposit layered fossil forests? Stratigraphic sections
showing a dozen or more mature forests layered atop each other--all with
upright trunks, in-place roots, and well-developed soil--appear in many
locations. One example, the Joggins section along the Bay of Fundy, shows a
continuous section 2750 meters thick (along a 48-km sea cliff) with multiple
in-place forests, some separated by hundreds of feet of strata, some even
showing evidence of forest fires. [Ferguson, 1988. For other examples, see
Dawson, 1868; Cristie & McMillan, 1991; Gastaldo, 1990; Yuretich, 1994.]
Creationists point to logs sinking in a lake below Mt. St. Helens as an
example of how a flood can deposit vertical trunks, but deposition by flood
fails to explain the roots, the soil, the layering, and other features found
in such places.

flood as a scientific hypothesis before the theory of evolution was even

You would do well to read Adam Sedgwick's conclusions: while there
certainly is evidence for many *local* floods at various times (just as
there is geological evidence for other local catastrophes, including
volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, landslides, and mudflows), there is
absolutely no evidence for one single, global flood at any point in earth's
history, and much evidence that mitigates against it, including:
-Igneous rocks other than pillow lava in the geologic record. (Pillow lava
is the only type that can form underwater).
-The absence of massive ripple marks all along the edges of the continents
where the flood waters drained off. (Such marks do exist as a remnant of
some of the largest local floods known to geology, those which occurred
between 17,000 and 13,000 years ago in Washington's Channeled Scablands at
the end of the last ice age).
-The number of impact craters in the geologic record. Hundreds of massive
ones are known; to accommodate this many impacts since the flood, we would
need to propose, on average, one large strike every ten to fifteen years.
-The absence of fossils sorted according to hydrodynamic properties (like
buoyancy or size), combined with the presence of fossils sorted by fine
morphological details (as evolution predicts).
-Delicate formations found to be fossilized (such as mud cracks, raindrop
imprints, footprints, intact burrows and nests).
-The presence of thick fields of evaporite minerals (such as salt)
deposited by evaporating water, buried beneath the surface of the strata.

Other evidence of cities beneath the waves has been turning up off India and
Japan recently; google searches should have no difficulty turning those
stories up.
The evidence is that the waters of the last flood remain on Earth, and that
the continental shelves are probably just the pre-flood ocean boundaries.

Yup, and other cultures besides the ancient Hebrews mention a great flood in
the past as well. Could it just a well be that it actually happened and that
it matters not whether the Hebrews alone witnessed it?
Perhaps as is common in ancient myth, stories were written to explain hard
to explain natural phenomenon?
The existence of a great flood in history does nothing to further "prove"
the stories of the bible beyond that a flood may have happened. Doesn't mean
God caused it and it cerainly doesn't mean that we and all known animals
were saved in a big ark...
