Object: The spirits of antichrist vs the Spirit of God
How can we discern the difference between the spirit of antichrist and
the Spirit of Truth? In these days of great deception it is
important
to have discernment and know the difference. As scripture warns us:
1Tim.4
[1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some
shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils;
The following scriptures should provide light and discernment:
1John.2
[18] Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that
antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we
know that it is the last time.
[22] Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is
antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1John.4
[3] And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in
the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist,
whereof
ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the
world.
2John.1
[7] For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not
that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an
antichrist.
The spirit of Antichrist denies the unique incarnation of Jesus Christ
in the flesh. What does this mean? Christ is called the Word of God
and God in the gospel of John. So any spirit or person who denies that
God the Son has come uniquely in the flesh is inspired by or is the
spirit of antichrist.
John.1
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.
[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth.
The antichrist is also a person or spirit which takes the place of
Christ, God or the Holy Spirit.
2Cor.11
[4] For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not
preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received,
or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with
him.
2Thes.2
[1] Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by
spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of
Christ is at hand.
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come,
except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be
revealed, the son of perdition;
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or
that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God,
shewing himself that he is God.
[5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these
things?
[6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his
time.
[7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now
letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
[8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall
consume
with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of
his coming:
[9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all
power
and signs and lying wonders,
[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that
perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they
might be saved.
[11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they
should believe a lie:
[12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had
pleasure in unrighteousness.
The spirit of antichrist points people away from Christ to another
Jesus, another gospel. The Holy Spirit of truth points people to
Jesus. When
people experience the Spirit of Truth it will show as good fruit in
their lives and they will love Jesus and what He loves.
John.14
[4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
[5] Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and
how can we know the way?
[6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no
man
cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John.15
[26] But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from
the
Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he
shall testify of me:
John.16
[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you
into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he
shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Gal.5
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
Eph.5
[9] (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness
and truth;)
Christ promised His disciples that He would send the Holy Spirit to
their teacher ...The Holy Spirit does not teach contrary to the
revelations contained
in Scripture and the teaching of Christ...Unholy spirits speak contrary
to Scripture and often distort or change the gospel of Christ. Unholy
spirits also
distort the character and nature of God. The Holy Spirit glorifies
Christ not man. John the Baptist speaking under the inspiration of the
Holy Spirit
spoke this of Jesus: "He must increase, but I must decrease." False
teachers and false prophets who are guided by unholy spirits want
people to follow and submit to them instead of Christ. God desires us
to have a sound mind and speaks to us with our reason intact. Unholy
spirits like people to
empty or silence their minds using mystical techniques of prayer and
meditation.
Scriptural references:
2Cor.11
[4] For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not
preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received,
or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with
him.
Gal.1
[6] I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you
into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
John.14
[26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will
send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to
your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John.14
[17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he
dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John.15
[26] But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from
the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father,
he shall testify of me:
John.16
[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide
you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever
he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to
come.
2Tim.3
[15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is
in Christ Jesus.
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:
1John.2
[27] But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you,
and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing
teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it
hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Matt.7
1 [15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's
clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matt.24
[11] And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
2 [24] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and
shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect.
2Pet.2
[1] But there were false prophets also among the people, even as
there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in
damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring
upon themselves swift destruction.
1John.4
[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether
they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the
world.
Matt.24
[24] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and
shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect.
Matt.23
[1] Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
[2] Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
[3] All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do;
but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
[4] For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them
on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of
their fingers.
[5] But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad
their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
[6] And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the
synagogues,
[7] And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi,
Rabbi.
[8] But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ;
and all ye are brethren.
[9] And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father,
which is in heaven.
[10] Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
[11] But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
[12] And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that
shall humble himself shall be exalted.

As long as we have the Bible and understand it by rightly discerning what
it is saying and with the Spirit of Truth that comes with belief in it
We should get along pretty well.
OH yes Satan is the master of lies and deception and will even
decieve the "ELECT" if that were possibel.
P. T . L. that is not possible .
but I must sat the world is full of those that show they have been
decieved and follow the antichrist sect.
I estimate there will only be like one percent of one percent that will
find Jesus and Follow Him at any one given moment in time.
These will be the Elect I am sure.
M,

The following scriptures should provide light and discernment:

1John.2
[18] Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that

This is an old article. It was pointed out to you then, that
you've already confirmed your bias by the false dichotomy
antichrist vs. Truth.
Besides, if scripture were true it would agree with known
facts, which it doesn't. And if Christ's words (according to
scripture) were true, he'd be back here already!
Looks like as far as truth is concerned, the antichrist wins.
Perhaps the Spirit of God (as you call it) does not agree
with fables. And wouldn't it be a sad state of affairs if it
did?
..note: alt.christnet REMOVED (due to excessive cross posting)
Have a nice day.

What if this great anti-christ deception, and falling away from the
true faith, took place many centuries ago, and the Christianity that we
know today, is actually the anti-christ?
The reason I ask this hypothetical question, is because I find it hard
to understand how a group of people, divided into 30,000+ doctrinally
disagreeing sects, could possibly presume to have any special spirit,
with regard to bible truth.
The scripture we read is a paraphrased interpretation, of a paraphrased
interpretation... None of the key words have actually been
translated, only transliterated, and the nuances of Greek composition
rules that are commonly refered to in proving doctrines, are actually
the rules of the 16th century version of the Byzantine language, which
was a completely different language from virtually ruleless first
century Koine Greek.
Do you think that adressing these issues would help in discerning the

The Bible says there are many antichrists some have come and are gone
others are here....
For some examples of antichrist systems or people:
-cults that claim their leader has replaced Christ ....for example Sun
Yun Moon
-new age leaders that say we are all Christs or God.
-religions that say Christ has been replaced by their prophet...ie,
Bahai
- ancient Romans said Caesar is god. Many Germans in WWII claimed
Hitler is the German messiah, etc,

Why do you say the Christianity of to-day is antichrist? Isn't that a
hasty generalization.
Churches can become antichrist if they have a substitute for Christ
and His atonement as
the means to be receive salvation.

Hello Dove:
Christianity of today, regardless of it's thousands of disagreeing
divisions, is united in the fundamental errors which were imposed at
the first ecumenical council of Nicea in 325.
Based on the context provided by the whole bible story, the christ of
Nicea cannot be the christ of the bible, and therefore Christianity of
today must be antichrist.
