Throughout the History of God's People He has sent messengers to warn them
of the err of their ways, to advise them of impending events, to call them
to Himself, to call them home.
It may be true, also, that sometimes long years have passed--even long
generations--without a messenger from God who could be proven.
Both of these possibilities are described in His Word. 2 Ch. 36:15, Amos
8:11. Mat. 23:39.
For anyone to believe that there will be no messenger from God, just because
we have not heard the voice of a prophet in our streets for a thousand
years, is to believe a lie: Worse, it is to call Him a liar.
For any people, let alone those people who call themselves "His People," to
believe the lie, "He will never again send His messengers," is to belie the
very name whereby they call themselves.
"Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His
servants the prophets." Amos 3:7.
"But God no longer speaks to us through prophets." Where is that written?
Who has told you this lie? Tell me: Where does it say that God will change?
Who has convinced you that because we have technology, telephones and
television that God will not send His prophets? Who told you this lie?
Listen to the Word of God. Mal. 3:6. "For I am the Lord, I change not." The
things which God hated a thousand years ago, He hates today. Who and what
God loved a thousand years ago, He loves today. His ways, the way He did
things then, are the same and He will do the same things today, tomorrow and
until the end of the world. It is His promise.
Now, in these last days, He has again promised to send messengers and
prophets. Rev. 8:3-11. "And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they
shall prophesy..."
But false prophets will come too, sent from Satan.
Today, this very day, false prophets tell lies in His name. Today, while you
read these words, false prophets deceive His People. "Then shall they
deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye
shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be
offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many
false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity
shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." Mat. 24:9-11.
Because we have so many false prophets in the world today, how would we
recognize a prophet sent from God?
