"TO DAY IF YE WILL HEAR HIS VOICE" |
Psalm 95 is the Old Testament authority that the author of
Hebrews used for his teaching in the third and fourth
chapters. The Psalmist exhorts us to direct our songs of
praise and thanksgiving toward our Creator, who is the
only true God ...
1 "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a
joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving,
and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King
above all gods.
4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the
strength of the hills is his also.
5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed
the dry land.
6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel
before the LORD our maker."
For emphasis, I repeat:
"O come, let us worship and bow down: let us
kneel before the LORD our maker." verse 6.
The Sabbath Commandment, then and now, is the
Commandment that makes a distinction between The
Creator and the many gods of the heathen.
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour,
and *do all thy work*:
But the **seventh day** is the sabbath
of the LORD thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor
thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant,
nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor
thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that in them is,
and **rested the seventh day**:
wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day,
and hallowed it." Exod 20:8-11 (KJV)
In every generation, many people are called to be the
people of God. A time of grace is given to them --A
"To day" when His voice calls them to repentance and faith
in the only true God and His Son, Jesus Christ. That "To
day" is the time for the man to make his decision. It is
man's day of judgement ...
The writer of Hebrews quotes Psalm 95:7-11,
7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his
pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
TO DAY IF YE WILL HEAR HIS VOICE,
8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as
in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw
my work
10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation,
and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and
they have not known my ways:
11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should
not enter into my rest."
Psalm 95:1-11 (KJV)
Now, the writer of Hebrews adds this warning to us:
12 "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an
evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God
..
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To
day; lest any of you be hardened through the
deceitfulness of sin." Heb 3:12-13 (KJV)
(Sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4 So, that
warning is to Christians telling them not to harden their
hearts and sin in their day of grace.)
Heb 3:14-19
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, **IF**we hold
the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice,
harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke:
howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it
not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell
in the wilderness?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter
into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of
UNBELIEF."
UNBELIEF: #570 apaistia faithlessness. i.e. disobedience.
Strong's Concordance
"Today" is man's day, a time of grace for him to have opinions
and make decisions and judgements. In contrast, another day
is coming:
"THE LORD'S DAY,
A PERIOD OF DIVINE JUDGEMENTS*."
Donna Kupp
* Vine's Dictionary specifically states that the Lord's Day
in Revelation 1:10 refers to the Lord's Day of Divine
Judgements that is set in contrast to "man's day".
"The adjective anthropinos, "human, belonging to man"
(anthropos), is doubtless set in contrast here to kuriakos,
"belonging to the Lord" (kurios, "a lord"), which is used
in the phrase "the Day of the Lord," IN REV. 1:10,
THE LORD'S DAY," A PERIOD OF DIVINE
JUDGMENTS."
(Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words on "Day")

Who, Christ?
Impossible, since he's no longer in physical form.

Revelation 11:3-6, 7-13
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast
that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against
them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great
city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our
Lord was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations
shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not

Jerusalem in the middle east was the place where Jesus died, if one
used the "literalistic" approach to this. So will this take place in
this City Or will we see OWD make some mental gymnastic to poof that
it isn't Jerusalem?

Donna sez to "old wet dog",
Let us always remember these words of our dear Savior and Lord:
"And fear not them which kill the body,
but are not able to kill the soul:
but rather fear him which is able to destroy
both soul and body in hell." Matt 10:28 (KJV)

That is not a threat, but a warning, since Jesus would never threat
anyone.
The warning is, fear Jehovah the evil one from hell and find help in
Christ.

It is true that we must find help in Christ; but if you have not
stopped deliberate sin completely before you die, it will be
Jesus Christ who destroys both your soul and body in hell.
Jesus said this about Jehovah, the Father:
"I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge:
and my judgment is just;
because I seek not mine own will,
but the will of the Father which hath sent me."
John 5:30 (KJV)
Now, please consider this: It was Jesus who executed the
judgments recorded in the Old Testament. Jesus said:
"For the Father judgeth no man,
but hath committed ***all judgment*** unto the Son:
That all men should honour the Son,
even as they honour the Father.
He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father
which hath sent him." John 5:22-23 (KJV)
The wicked people in the time of Noah and Sodom and
Gomorrah wasted their day of grace and were destroyed
by the Son.
Wicked "believers" are not exempt from the Son's judgments. On
the contrary, these words were spoken to Christians:
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received
THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH *,
there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment
and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."

This is where you make your mistake. It's not Jesus Christ who is
going to destroy your soul. It is Jehovah - the devil in your head
that is going to destroy your soul while you are still *alive*. The
judgment day is not a day after we have died. The judgment day is the
day when you make a decision to either obey Jehovah by destroying your
soul or seek the help of Christ by following your heart. When that
decision is made, the judgment will be handed down.
Jesus said this about Jehovah, the Father:
"I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge:

Therefore, Christ who lives in our hearts is the only one whom we must
honor and obey.
The wicked people in the time of Noah and Sodom and
Gomorrah wasted their day of grace and were destroyed

False. The Son is the spirit of Christ in your heart. He judges good
and evil, but he does not do evil.
Wicked "believers" are not exempt from the Son's judgments. On

Dear Reader, Please read my post:
THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH
The judgment of God comes from Christ. The punishment of evil comes
from the Law. Christ, the Son of God does not do evil. The one that
does do evil in the name of God and his law is the devil in disguise.
