Object: TO DO OR NOT TO DO. THE PAULINE CONFUSION
The writings of Saul/Paul of Tarsus is cinsidered to be the
"Word of God" by most believers.
His basic teaching, repeated incessantly by Martin Luther
and by Protestants of many varieties, was
"by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight"
and
"a man is justified
by faith without the deeds of the law" (Romans 3:22,28)
But just some 40 verses (OK, so he did not write his letters in "verses"
but it us easier to refer to his point) earlier he wrote:
"For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the
doers of the law shall be justified." (Romans 2:13)
Does that sound like the "Word" of some omniscient deity, or like those
of a confused MAN? -- L.
