Trying to find faith again |
How does one find the faith that one had as a child?
There came a time in our lives when my husband and I lost our faith, or
rather realized it was gone. We are raising our son now and would like to
instill in him the belief system we are missing. Perhaps hypocrites but
hypocrites trying to make our son's life a full one.
How?

You haven't lost it, you've lost touch with it.
Just start making time for the Lord. On the radio find a station that plays
Christian praise music.
Pray with your son at bed time. Read Bible stories to him. Pray before each
meal. Set an example. He will imitate you, not what you tell him to do.

It is good that you are concerned about your child's spiritual
welfare. Wouldn't it be good if all parents were the same way.
But we have to have the right motivation to serve God.
God can read hearts and only wants people to serve Him who have their
complete heart to Him. (Isa 38:3; 1 Co 10:31) If one's purpose in
serving God is secondary to that, then God may not accept that one's
faith or prayers etc. (Pr 28:9)
If a parent's spiritual motivation is not sincere, then the child will
probably pick up on that, and his motivations may not be sincere
either, thus jeopardizing his relationship with his Creator.
Just some things to think about.

Get him involved with a youth group at a bible believing church.
Read a children's bible stories to him first thing in the mornings and
pray together.
