Unbelief comes from not being given faith and not because someone chose not to believe... |
along with the idea that man chooses Christ comes the thinking that
since it's up to man to decide to accept Christ of his own free will
or not... his choosing not to believe makes him an unbeliever.
but this is not the case.
one neither chooses Christ nor has the ability to believe by his own
rational. this is evident from John 1:12,13 where it is plainly
stated that receiving Christ is " not by the will of man " and in
John 6:29 it is plainly stated that believing in man is solely the
work of God.
credit is given by God to God for the doing and so the question
arises asking how is it that evangelicals are preaching for the lost
to ' make a decision for Christ ' or recite some sinners prayer their
denomination designed for them ?
this is just a gospel for man to get the glory for the performance
since he must act first so as to invoke God to grace him only if his
heart is in the right place.
wonderfully, salvation belongs to the Lord ( Ps. 3:8 ) and is by
God's choosing of man ( Eph. 1:3-14 ) and God's giving him the faith
God appreciates. Eph.2:8,9
it is God in Christ who came to seek and to save the lost
( Lk. 19:10 )and not the lost seeking Christ to be saved. Ro. 3:10-18
not only do the lost not seek for God, since salvation is not
palatable to the lost, but those congregations offering salvation
through the will of man think they are not boasting when they say
" I led so and so to Christ "... which is another way of saying Christ
did not come to seek and to save... " I did. "
such is the boast of the flesh from the fleshly... taking credit for
self-salvation and the salvation of others.
