Letter from a Christian Universalist Death Row Inmate.
(Includes photo).
I have finally received some responses from death row inmates which I'd
written, and I've got the very first letter on the web by one of them... if
anybody in these groups has time to write, please do, or if not, feel free
to visit the URL and even post a brief word, and I'll be glad to print it
out and stick it into my response to James Andrews... I'm positive these
guys I publish on the site, would love to recieve all the correspondence
they can get.
(I've got several letters on hand that I must yet transfer though -- I was
happy to receive every single letter too!... Thanks for everyone's time,
Sharon)

How pathetic. Soliciting vicious death row scum about how religious
they are. There's always a new level of perversions for you
christians.
Why don't you ask the victims how wonderful it was to have someone
viciously murdered so 'they' could find your magic pixie.
It must make them feel great, that through your efforts, the killer
gets peace and serenity. Heaven forbid some guy hacking to death a
three year old should feel any fear or apprehension.

Steve,
When a man who has been sentenced to death, once the day of execution
arrives, we are not killing the same man who was sentenced. Many changes
occur while this person is incarcerated. And we can thank prison ministries
for such changes. Also, I thank God for this as many men have been found
not guilty during their incarceration.
Peace with God

occur while this person is incarcerated.

Imminent and certain death concentrates the mind wonderfully, yes. So, what
do you recommend that a convicted murderer should do, to make recompense to
his victim's family, if these "changes" include an understanding of and
regret for his actions?
And we can thank prison ministries

for such changes. Also, I thank God for this as many men have been found
not guilty during their incarceration.

Then if they are not guilty, why would change be necessary?

Ponder this one, Warlord Steve. We Christians believe those that have found
Christ in prison can be rewarded with eternal life in heaven while those, as
I surmise from the tenor of your post, that refuse God (no matter how good a
person you might be) are headed for eternal damnation. God loves the
repentant killer ahead of the good agnostic.
Christians believe no matter how ugly the sin or how bad the sinner, God
will grant salvation if you turn your life over to him... and will not grant
the same salvation to those that chose to live a life based on mortal
values.... no matter how good that person is.
Thanks to Christian ministries and lots of time on their hands to think and
ponder... there are more souls destined for the Kingdom of God in the
average prison than in the average Church (where most of the people show up
on Sunday's but chose mortal values the other six and 1/2 days a week...)

CHRISTIANS do not support the death penalty. You and some christians
support the death penalty. When you raise the Christian flag in support of
your own political beliefs.... well, I would not do that, as I think that is
using the Lord's name in vain.
I personally think the death penalty is very unchristian. It accomplishes
nothing to further God's will... it is largely a societal act of vengence.
Moreover, it cuts short a life and ends the quest of the soul to find the
Lord. Helping souls find the Lord is what Christianity is about...
regardless of the path.

Very few Christians are sent to prison.... many people become Christian
while in prison...
You are confusing Christians with people that label themselves Christians
based upon heritage or think it is a multiple choice answer. Something on
the order of 80% of the US population will label themselves Christian...
something on the order of 50% regularly attend Church....
Something on the order of ... less than 5% of the population is actually
Christian (actually lives or attempts to live the Word...).... If 50% of the
population were actually Christian... the US would have the lowest crime
rate in the world...

Christians are over-represented in prison. Ponder that.

Very few Christians are sent to prison.... many people become Christian

You are confusing Christians with people that label themselves Christians
based upon heritage or think it is a multiple choice answer. Something on
the order of 80% of the US population will label themselves Christian...
something on the order of 50% regularly attend Church....

Something on the order of ... less than 5% of the population is actually

So they are the most law-abiding of people. Yet these ambassadors who

(Matt. 22:21; Rom. 13:1-7) It is not strange, therefore, that just about six
years after Paul wrote what is said in 2 Corinthians 5:19-21, he found
himself a prisoner in Rome, Italy, and accordingly wrote to the congregation
in Ephesus, Asia Minor, to pray for him: "That ability to speak may be given

chains."-Eph. 6:19, 20.

The one way a true Christian would end in prison is as a political prisoner.
Paul and Christ were each enemies of the state. As Christians are not of
this world but of another... they can easily be out of step and a threat to
mortal governments. But, unless their is reason for conflict, Christians
are to be good, law abiding citizens that pay their taxes and respect

Again, let me draw a clear distinction between the behavior of man in the

For the behavior of the true Christian, you will need command of the NT,

If you are referring to my last statement.... my support is the Bible... the
fundamental beliefs of Christians. My point is that if the majority led
life by the Word, we would have no crime. That statement is almost
axiomatic if you understood the Word and then could draw a distinction
between how a Christian is suppose to behave and the behavior of those that
you label as Christians actually is.
A real Christian behaves a lot more like Gandhi than, say George Bush....
Almost all that think the are, frankly just don't get it.... Read the
Gospel and you will see a much different Christianity than you see from the
likes of a Pat Robertson, a Jerry Falwell or a Bennie Hinn...

Almost all that think the are, frankly just don't get it.... Read the
Gospel and you will see a much different Christianity than you see from the
likes of a Pat Robertson, a Jerry Falwell or a Bennie Hinn...

I've read it. Cover to cover. Twice. It's horrible to imagine it
might be true. That we are subject to the whims of such a creature as
the one that tormented Job on a bet, that killed the first born of an
entire people, that threatens to torment ME for eternity for failing to
find his hiding place when he could as easily show himself, is a
nightmare I don't care to believe in.

Are you familiar much with him? I have heard him from time to time, but it

Thanks for putting a smile on their face. Thanks for turning
punishment into reward.

Steve,
When a man who has been sentenced to death, once the day of execution
arrives, we are not killing the same man who was sentenced. Many changes
occur while this person is incarcerated. And we can thank prison

ministries

for such changes. Also, I thank God for this as many men have been found
not guilty during their incarceration.
Peace with God

Faye, I've never heard of that particular ministry. Although I know there
are several for which I thank the Lord.

It's Chuck *Colson* and the ministry is Prison Fellowship Ministries... they are
the biggest of their kind. They train local churches and ministerial alliances
to go into the prisons and conduct Bible studies and visitation. I was the head
of that ministry when I was with the Montgomery City Ministerial Alliance over
in east central Missouri and am well acquainted with their work. In fact, in my
bookcase next to this very computer I have my training manual for them. :-)
