The calling of a fininte man Father(as in the RCC calling the pope "Holy
Father") is in direct opposition to the words of the Lord Jesus Christ in
the Bible.
Nope. Welcome to the Christian priesthood.
1 Corinthians 4:15 (New International Version)
15Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many
fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

duke,
But notice carefully, nowhere in the Bible does it use the word
"Father" as a title for humans to use, such as 'Father Paul' etc.
So according to the above Scripture, yes, Paul likened himself to a
father. But also a mother in his relation to the Thessalonian
Christians. (1Th 2:7, 11) But I see no attempts to call him 'Mother
Paul'.
The context of Jesus' statement at Mt 23:8-10 shows that he was
talking about formalistic and RELIGIOUS TITLES being used. Notice the
full text in this Catholic Bible: Mt 23:8-10,
"As for you, do not be called 'Rabbi.' You have but one teacher, and
you are all brothers. 9 Call no one on earth your father, you have but
one Father in heaven. 10 Do not be called 'Master'; you have but one
master, the Messiah." (NAB)
Notice the religious titles used here. Jesus was saying that no person
has the authority to use religious titles, such as "Rabbi Smith" or
"Father Jones" or "Master Adams", etc. Thus Jesus' true followers
always try to obey Jesus' words and are humble people, not looking for
praises by men with flattering titles.
Sincerely, James
