Re: Women and Men Equal
You've heard the phrase that God didn't make woman from the foot to be
under man, didn't make her from his head to be over man, but made her
from his side to be beside man. Well, that's the point of this post.
I think I've been adequately bothering the liberals lately, and this
post should equally rock the conservatives (being fair means I end up
losing all support I guess). The point of this post is that God made
woman equal to man.
That statment has already got the bile of many rising, but I believe it
cannot be seen otherwise, if you believe scripture. Wait, you say.
I'm USING scripture to say this? Yes. Consider..
After Adam and Eve ate the fruit in Eden, God went around telling the
punishment upon the serpent, upon man, and upon Eve. When he got to
Eve, He said..
"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy
conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire
shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." Genesis 3:16
Did you notice it? The last part says that part of woman's punishment
would be that man would rule over them. What does this say for before
the punishment? It says that before her sin, she was EQUAL to man.
Otherwise, including that in the punishment would make no sense.
In fact, Paul backs this up to a degree. In 1 Timothy 2:12-14, Paul
says that women are under men because they were first deceived by
Satan. Thus, he also is saying they were equal at the start. However,
Paul starts this section by saying," I will therefore..." 1 Tim 2:8,
indicating a personal opinion, not the word of the Lord. Similarly, in
1 Cor 14:34-35 it also appears that he is saying women should be
subject. Yet, verse 36 shows that he is not saying that himself but
is, instead, rebuking that notion from others.
Consider this. If Adam and Eve received their punishment because of
sin, and through Christ we are freed from sin, why do we continue to
impose subjection to man (Eve's punishment for sin) upon women? If
women are free in Christ, why are they still being held by men to be
under the penalty of sin?
Now, that doesn't mean they are without subjection. What it means,
instead, is that women are subject to God equally with man. Both man
and woman report to God directly. Both will answer to God for their
responsibilities. Both will be co-heirs with Christ to rule upon
resurrection, if they stay subject to God. When a woman is subject to
man, she can blame man before God. If a woman is equal with man, she
must answer for herself, so it isn't a licenses to sin but a harsher
judgement.
I will stop here to let the words have their impact and allow for the
expected reaction to the words. However, keep in mind that I am just a
fool and could certainly be wrong.
Hello,
It is never 'foolish' to try to understand the Bible.
You make some interesting points, but let's look at the Bible a little
closer.
First of all, your reference that Eve must have been equal to Adam
before they both sinned. If that was to be the case, one would have
expected God to have created Eve directly from the "dust" (ground),
just as He created Adam. (Ge 2:7) But God created Eve FROM ADAM,
implying man to be the dominate one in the relationship.
Also, notice carefully the wording of when God was going to make Eve.
Ge 2:18,
"The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will
make a helper suitable for him."" (NIV)
Notice she was created "for him"; for the man, thus showing the man's
headship in that relationship. Many other popular translations also
use that phrase "for him".
Concerning your reference to Genesis 3:16, this shows that Adam's
headship role which he always had, would become distorted, and he
would not treat his wife the same way he did before. When can even see
the start of this in Genesis. Notice the Scriptural details in this
brief comment:
"Soon the first couple began to experience what God had foreseen
would be the consequence of disobedience. Adam, who had earlier
described his wife in glowing, poetic terms, now coldly referred to
her as 'the woman you gave me.' His imperfection now marred and
misdirected his masculinity, resulting in his 'dominating his wife.'
Eve, in turn, would have a "craving" for her husband, likely in an
excessive or unbalanced way.-Genesis 3:12, 16." (1997 Watchtower,
6/15, p. 15)
Thus since the Bible is inspired of God (2 Ti 316), we have to accept
the following statement by Paul. Paul did not say here that this was
his own idea (which still means it was approved by God), and he didn't
say that this arrangement was temporary or anything. But this is the
arrangement by God for all time. 1 Co 11:3,
"Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and
the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God." (NIV)
Sincerely, James

First of all, your reference that Eve must have been equal to Adam

expected God to have created Eve directly from the "dust" (ground),
just as He created Adam. (Ge 2:7) But God created Eve FROM ADAM,
implying man to be the dominate one in the relationship.
No, THAT is NOT the clear intepretation EVEN if you believe the bible to be
inerrant. NOTHING is implied by way of hierarchy by the fact that man was
made first although I DO believe one or more authors of the bible implied
that. Was it Paul?
Also, notice carefully the wording of when God was going to make Eve.
Ge 2:18,
"The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will
make a helper suitable for him."" (NIV)
Again, you like to use the words you want to use. Help mate with the
emphasis on MATE.
Notice she was created "for him"; for the man, thus showing the man's
headship in that relationship. Many other popular translations also
use that phrase "for him".
This is a sexist interpretation and women were created by God FOR men. I
agree that you agree with the biblical authors but I disagree on the
inerrancy part.
When you stop and think about it. IF God gave Eve a punishment of being
subject to Adam's rule, then it HAD to not be so before. You don't give a
curse to someone who already was in the position of the curse you're
giving.... DUH, DUH and triple DUH. THAT is why it ALL points to the
ERRANCY of the biblical stories. They just don't make sense when you apply
logic to the overwhelming majority of them.
Also, given a MAN'S (not God's), that is Paul's interpretation of Christ's
sacrifice, how it so funny that WOMEN were not relieved of "God's curse" by
Jesus' sacrifice? Because these bonedense men who thought male dominance
was a natural thing, in or outside of the garden of Eden story, would
"naturally" to keep thinking of women as submissive to men.
However, AFTER saying all that, EVEN Paul, bonedense boneheaded, myopic 13th
apostle that he was, when he kept writing about the submission of women, he
also added that men should treat women like their own bodies and be willing
to sacrifice THEIR LIVES as Jesus did for the believers. DUH, DUH and
triple DUH.
It's often disgusting to hear "christian" men blather on and one about the
submission of women being a ABSOLUTE, even to the point of an abusive
husband but NEVER a word about men being sacrificial to the death toward the
good of the woman he has for a wife.... DUH, DUH and triple DUH.
In fact, I'm so sick and tired of meeting one ignorance ***** after another
and that's about all I have to give... DUHs.

Truth and half-truths...
Men are not descendants of Adam...they are descendants of Adam and
Eve.,...
Cult-feminists have brainwashed us to believe that men are from
men...and women from women...sorry...
Equality occurs on various levels...and some men are equal to some
women in some things...and vise a versa...
Bottom line we are not all equal...we are all different...
A key to the gates of Eden ?

This is a COMPLETE lie. Feminists have NOT even said that much less tired
to brainwash anybody into believing it. Talk about LYING, Caesar!
Also making it as if Feminists are a collective borg-like creature with
absolute NO diversity is anothe FREQUENT lie of yours.

Equality is ALL there is. It's about Fairness sometimes and sometimes it
about equality. Sometimes equality isn't fair in such obvious situations as
men and women's different bodies. If man suffer more from a particular
disease than women, is it equity to give more to that research? If women
suffer more from a particular disease than men, is it equity to give more to
that research? DUH

woman willing to be "different" at a much lower level than himself.
