Object: WHEN WAS BABYLON DESTROYED?
When Was Babylon Destroyed?
Yes, Babylon was conquered--as recorded by Daniel.
But when was Babylon Destroyed? Can you give the Date?
Perhaps someone would be so kind as to name the Nation which destroyed
Babylon? I would really like to read those pages in histroy that
describe that destruction. How long did that battle take? In what year?
Who was the King? What was the name of that King's General?
How was that destruction managed? Did they use battering rams and
catapults? Surely the Destruction of Babylon is mentioned in the history
of war and conquest?
Did it happen like God said it would?
"As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof,
saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of
man dwell therein." Jere 50:40
"And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees'
excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah." Isaiah 13:19
Babylon, Sodom and Gomorrah
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire and brimstone from heaven, and
remain desolate to this day.
Both Isaiah and Jeremiah tell us that God said He would destroy Babylon
in the same way.
However, when the city was captured in the lifetime of Daniel, it was
not destroyed. In fact, there is no record (which I know of) that any
invading army ever destroyed it--Babylon just fell into ruin as
civilization moved away from it.
There are some who wish to tell us that God was speaking in "hyperbole,"
just using "extreme over-statement" and did not really mean exactly what
He said. They then use this "hyperbole" as an excuse to deny that God
will destroy the Heavens (universe) and (planet) Earth. 2 Peter 3:3-12.
However, if one will read Isaiah 13 and Jeremiah 50 and 51 carefully,
and then compare them with Revelation 17 and 18, the intent and meaning
of God's Word can be understood.
Compare the signs described by Jesus in Mat 24:29-30 to those of
Revelation 6:12-17, 11:15-19 and 16:17-21--and those found in Isaiah and
Jeremiah.
Last, compare Jer 50:46 with Rev 18:9-10.
The complete destruction of Babylon was not intended for Daniel's days,
but for the Last Days.
The descriptions of the complete destruction of Babylon include
descriptions of the Sixth Seal, Seventh Trumpet and Last Vial--and the
coming of the Lord.
No, Babylon has not yet been destroyed as God destroyed Sodom and
Gomorrah: But it will be.
Those who Love Truth search for it, those who don't, don't.

When Was Babylon Destroyed?

A long time ago, idiot. And Babylon does not
equal America, as you claim. Nowhere does
the Bible teach a revived Babylon, nor a revived
Roman Empire, nor any such thing!

The Bible is the inerrant word of the living God!
If you don't believe the Bible, don't tell me that
you are a Christian. I won't believe you. To make
that claim, is to be a heretic who does not know God.
