THE GOD OF TRUTH
When we trust the Savior, then God guarantees
To Read: 1 Chronicles 16-18
To Know:
".who confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his
messengers; who says of Jerusalem, 'She shall be inhabited,' and of the
cities of Judah, 'They shall be built, and I will raise up their ruins';
who says to the deep, 'Be dry, I will dry up your rivers'; who says of
Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd, and he shall fulfill all my purpose'; saying of
Jerusalem, 'She shall be built,' and of the temple, 'Your foundation shall
be laid.'"
(Is. 44:26-28)
A mother told her young son the way she really felt about a neighbor woman.
It was not flattering. The woman lived two doors up the street and the boy
ran straight there to deliver the message. His mother's words were not
intended for anyone outside the home and never in her wildest dreams did
she expect her boy to announce them out in the street. It took two weeks
before the neighborhood returned to normal.
God never says what he doesn't intend to do. Christians are commissioned to
bring God's word to the world. God pledges to do what he has said. Jesus
was God's superlative servant who said, "You search the scriptures, because
you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear
witness to me; yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life." (Jn.
5:39,40) Also he said, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and
I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am
gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matt. 11:28-30) And again he said,
"All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I
will not cast out."
(Jn. 6:37)
To Do:
Have you handed yourself over to Christ? Until we belong to God he is not
pledged to act toward us according to all he has promised in his word. When
we trust the Savior, then indeed God guarantees that he will act for us
according to his promise.
To Ask:
Father, I give myself to you.
