WHAT IS GOD'S KINGDOM LIKE?
Where the kingdom of God is present
To Read: Galatians 1-3
To Know:
"And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom
which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another
people." (Dan. 2:44)
The kingdom of God begins and develops in the midst of the kingdoms that
will perish with this present world. The vision God gave king Nebuchadnezzar
of Babylon is extraordinarily detailed. This vision outlines world history
from his day to ours. Four great kingdoms will arise on earth and during the
fourth God's own kingdom will break in from the outside and grow until it
grinds to powder the final kingdom that men erect.
The fourth kingdom Nebuchadnezzar saw was Rome. What the Babylonian king saw
in a vision we have now entered into the historical record. We know for a
fact what Nebuchadnezzar was given to believe, that God's kingdom came in
the person of the king of the upcoming ages who was born in a stable in
Bethlehem. God's kingdom came in the man Jesus because Christ yielded his
will without reservation to his father. The kingdom of God is present
wherever the will of God rules.
To Do:
When Jesus taught his disciples to pray he included, "Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done." The Hebrew employed parallelism as a way to immediately
comment on an assertion. In parallelism the second phrase explains the
first. God's kingdom comes where his will is done. God's will is that we
trust him explicitly. When we rely on the Lord to provide for us all he
demands from us, then the kingdom of God has come to the earth.

That is so true. His will be done.
Praise the Lord!

Hi Bear,
That is an interesting post. I especially liked the information on
parellelisim. God's Kingdom comes where His will is done. It reminds
me of the following:
"But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of
God is come unto you." Matthew 12:28
So while I agree that God's will is for us to trust Him, I might also
suggest that at a broader level, His will may be for the power of
Righteousness to triumph over the power of evil, but in us and around
us. What are your thoughts?
God Bless,
Chayil

what do you mean by your last assumption? I do not understand it...

Hi Vera,
Oh Boy, you would have to call me on that. ;-)
Alright, I'll give it a shot. I guess what I mean is that whenever
the kingdom of God is manifested, we see His righteousness displayed.
This kingdom can be manifested in us as born again believers or it can
be manifested outside of us as we see the power of God revealed around
us.
I see it as a spiritual war almost being played out before our eyes.
We know that Jesus already won the victory over evil on the cross.
But there are glimpses we can get into the effects of this victory in
our own lives. When a soul is saved, then we see righteousness
triumphing over evil because that person has been translated from the
devil's kingdom to God's. When the power of God is manifested
supernaturally in the world around us, rightesouness triumphs over
evil because it attests to the fact that there is none like God.
Therefore, when God's will is being done, when devils are being cast
out, when souls are being saved...what we are really seeing is a
manifestation of righteousness over evil, or IOW the kingdom of God,
or IOW a manifestation of the victory that Jesus obtained for us.
This may not make any sense at all, so I welcome your feedback. But I
was just thinking in term's of Bear's post on what it means for the
kingdom of God to come. And I thought it might simply be a
manifestation of all that Jesus won for us on the cross.
What do you think?
God Bless,
Chayil
