Object: Where to find Satan, the Devil... Eph. 2:2
" And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is
now working in the sons of disobedience. " Eph 2:2
********************************************************************
where does one find Satan ? he is found " " in " the sons of
disobedience. " therefore, all of the unsaved are his
representatives, ambassador's, prophets and apostles, students and
disciples. you don't have to go far to find him since they are
" many. " ( Mt. 7:13 )
expositor's have varied conclusions as to the meaning of that part
of Eph. 2:2 which states, " according to the prince of the power of
the air. " the obvious personage being referred to is Satan
himself... the prince of darkness grim. it makes little sense that
Paul was describing Satan's actual residence when he says Satan is the
prince of the power of the air...
this doesn't compare at all with other verses which reveal Satan's
actual abode... such as Ez. 28:17; the Garden of Eden; his temptation
of Christ; his afflicting Job... all of these places are here on
earth.
what Paul is saying is, in order to use the word " prince, " Satan
must be somehow described as different in princeship than other
princes in kingdoms of the earth.
this he does by describing Satan's realm of princeship as his being
the " prince of the power of the air " which is everywhere and has no
boundaries. this perfectly agrees with 1 Joh. 5:19.
there is nothing in " the air " that Satan would want to beguile.
man is on earth. man is the object of his appetite. " the air "
simply means " universal; without boundaries; all emcompassing. "
Satan is " the god of this world. " ( 2 Cor. 4:4; Joh. 12:31 )
" this world "... no boundaries; all emcompassing rulership.
it is also contrary to Scripture to give credit to Satan so as to
say he has dominion over events we call " natural "... events such as
hurricanes, floods, tsusamis; even war between nations... Ez. 14:12-20
makes that clear. it is God who calls down these things to rid
Himself of evil men. it wasn't Satan who caused the Flood of Noah.
in God there is hope and mercy. that some survive such events is
the work of God... for Satan would have it that all are swept away.
it wasn't Satan who troubled the water's in hopes of sinking the boat
Jesus and His disciples were in as in Mt. 8:23-27. there is no sense
to this at all to say Satan brought about the storm when the Bible
states that God controls His creation Ez. 14:12-20 et al.
if Satan had the power to cause the storm the boat and it's
occupants would have been swept completely away. there is no verse in
the Bible which evidences Satan as having power over such things. his
power is " in " sinful men... Eph. 2:2 ... hence the rise of false
prophets and prophetesses throughout the centuries.
since the Holy Spirit of God testifies to all believers of Jesus
Christ and of Him only, ( Jn. 15:26 ) it is assured that such
characters as Ellen G. White, Brigham Young, the Popes, etc. are
nothing more than sons and daughters of Satan who've designed a
philosophy directing the lost away from Holy Scripture by substituting
their own writings... which the lost eagerly follow knowing not God.
