Who are His? |
There are many warnings in Scripture about false prophets, false teachers,
and false brothers who are at times described as speaking lies in
hypocrisy, having seared consciences and masquerading as servants of
rigtheousness.
Jesus, Peter and Paul all warned people to be on guard and to be
discerning.
So who are His?
Consider the following verses which illustrate some characteristics of
those who are, in contrast to those who are not.
In combination with faith we would appear to have those who are;
Sealed with the Holy Spirit
Hearers AND Doers
Repentant AND Obedient
Bear good fruit

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The
Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of
Christ depart from iniquity.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel
of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with
that holy Spirit of promise,
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first
commandment.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs
of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a
corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil
fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that
bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred,
variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings,
murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you
before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such
things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and
lusts.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will

When I think of a holy person I see a spirit about them at work. Love,
kindness, listening, gentleness, tolerance and thousands of others .These
are what is considered as HIS.
People are only what they are by the spirit they act out which are either
good or bad and always training us to think before we act. Acting out of
bad spirit I.e vengeance is not holy but is often considered as holy when
the person acting it out feels they are doing God's will for whatever reason
their mind has given them, usually control issues or a desire to play the
strict, oppressive authority figure..
(Not in their right mind.)
The part about Jesus saying "My sheep hear my voice" in essence is Jesus
taking control over his thoughts. He leads his thoughts to where he wants
them to go instead of them taking over and leading him on a wild goose
chase.
Discipline fits the sheep theory.Counting your thoughts and naming then
one by one is really a
"good way" to learn and observe what's going on in the mind & heart. Taking
control of them instead of letting them control you is a good daily
exercise.
Can't say I always do it myself but I do try to observe them a little closer
now that I know the importance of just how powerful thoughts can be.
Thoughts are sometimes scattered in all directions which can lead the soul
in directions it doesn't need to follow. I have those too! Lots of "them"
which I confess don't always belong to God=goodness but belong to me.

as proof that he is the creator. The God of Abraham, Issac
and Jacob, he is God, and he is the ONLY God there is.

Here we are in 2006, YEARS after it was already described
that God had said the truth, saying that's what happens,
without science chiming in, and instead getting ridiculed
over saying it. The confirmation came from God's word,
not science's word at the time it was being pointed out
because at the time, science was ignorant of it, yet God
knew, and he was right in saying what he'd said about the
solar system formation before they even knew what to ask.
They are YEARS behind what was claimed to have been
crazy to say... yet there it is, and it's already been
said THOUSANDS of years ago by God.
God told them they didn't understand what he'd said about
the formation of the earth, the dust cloud, that it's like
a womb, waters gushing out, thick darkness, the birthing
band, bands and openings... it's all correct, what God said
about it, it's correctly stated, by God, the creator of it all.
But it was pointed out years ago, based on what God said

who will not accept any evidence that they are not true, yet continue to

No. That is because logic does not allow a thing to be used as proof of
itself. What you have is not knowledge, but belief. Not evidence, but
faith.

easily do if He REALLY wanted us to believe - then obviously it would
present the doubters with something of a challenge.
Ah - but (Babel fish at the ready...) proof denies faith, and without
faith God is nothing, and so on et cetera. Although it was fine for
Jesus to work miracles in order to prove his divinity - apparently the
ruling against proof is a recent one.

Yes, but the problem is, you see, that the part of this report that you
are interested is something that has been known about for years. The
accretion disc described in this story (which I will provide a link for
since you failed to do so: [1]; also a link to the Spitzer operator's
site - [2]) is unusual not because of what it is, but because of the body
it is orbiting: a post-supernova pulsar.
But science has known about accretion discs for a long time, John.
Certainly long enough for you to be able to scour the Bible looking for
references you can wrench into shape to feed your obsession.
Incidentally, at no point in the Bible are accretion discs, or anything
resembling them, mentioned. Indeed, not once on the appropriate part of
your salad site (http://home.teleport.com/~salad/4god/planets.htm) is a
direct Bible quote offered, much less a relevant one.
Because that is how this works, John: This is John Boatwright looking for
Bible text that he can shoehorn into science as HE understands it. It is
not science fulfilling the Bible. Anyone taking even a casual glance at
your site can see the remarkable leaps and redefinitions that you base
your claim on. They are enough for you, sure, because you are a True
Believer. Nothing will or could dissuade you. But for anyone looking
for any fragment of reason in that site, there is nothing.

I have looked it up, John. Even despite your notable failure to provide
a link to the story you referred to. And I have read your site. I have
studied the Bible. I am pretty familiar with scientific descriptions of
the formation of Earth and the solar system. But that does not change
the fact that you are a True Believer. You simply will not see evidence
against - you cannot. You have to protect your belief system, and you do
it by metaphorically sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la la
la". You have done it for years, John, and I do not imagine you will
change any time soon.
