Why Does George Bush Want a 50-Cent Gas Tax? |
"Let's cut income taxes by 10 percent and finance it with a
50-cent-per-gallon hike in the gasoline tax . Cutting income taxes while
increasing gasoline taxes would lead to more rapid economic growth, less
traffic congestion, safer roads, and reduced risk of global warming -- all
without jeopardizing long-term fiscal solvency. This may be the closest
thing to a free lunch that economics has to offer."

You seem to be having trouble reading.
In your subject line you claim that Bush wanted a gas tax increase
then in your post you admit it was some guy named Gregory Mankiw who
said it. Now that you have proven yourself to be a liar I guess we
can't believe anything you say.

You don't get it. Its not about fuel prices. Its about John Kerry
making 20 million a year from Heinz's off shore factories but yet
wanting to solve the world's problems by confiscating your income.
John Kerry is trying enslave you through high taxes because he thinks
he is smarter than you and can spend your money better than you can.

John Kerry doesn't make anything off of Heinz. The stake in

Secondly, Heinz built factories overseas 100 years ago. You

Thirdly, you're intentionally misrepresenting the issue. Nobody

What Heinz is doing is *Exactly* what people are calling on every

produce products meant for domestic production here.
But, of course, you don't give a ***** about American jobs, only

You lie. Kerry himself supported the 50 cent a gallon tax. George

You lie.
Nope. Bush and all of you neo-cons with your tongues up Bush's
***** are the liars.
Kerry neither sponsored nor voted for a 50 cent gas tax. He voted
against it.
***** Cheney, however, when he was back in congress, did propose
an oil import tax.
Here's another fact:
"Here's what they're not telling you: George Bush and his Republican
allies have NEVER ONCE supported lowering the gas tax on middle
class families, despite the fact that Bush promised to during his 2000
campaign. Bush has submitted three budgets and passed two huge tax
cuts, but the gas tax has not changed one penny under George Bush.
Gas prices, on the other hand, have increased dramatically, reaching
their highest level in history and taxing families by $24 billion this
year alone. While George Bush campaigned on the issue, he has let
the problem sit and fester so that consumers are left paying the bill.
Instead of helping consumers who will pay $24 billion more for gas
this year, Bush and Cheney are aiding oil companies' record profits
and increasing American dependence on foreign countries."

The Bush team claimed Kerry co-sponsored a bill to increase the gas tax by 50
cents. In fact he did not. Chuck Robb proposed on in 1994 and Kerry did not
sponsor or vote for it. Bush tries to go back ten years to dig up dirt on Kerry
and now you can't handle it when bush's advisors are on the record as supporting
similar proposals.

Hey, its even worse than you point out. Not only did they have to go
back 30 years to try and dig up some dirt but the "dirt" was that he
was "absent" from national guard duty. LOL!! These fools didn't even
understand that guard duty is a part time, one weekend a month, job
thus you are ABSENT from it MOST OF THE TIME!!!! LOL!!!
It scares me when people that stupid are allowed to vote! I hope they
all live in Florida so they will punch out the wrong chad and cancel
out their vote.

Great quote. Of course, Gas has fluctuated far more than 50 cents per gallon
under bush. Gasoline prices have fluctuated from lows of about 1.30 to highs of
about 2.20 in various parts of the country. This year alone, average gas prices
have gone up 24 cents and most experts predict they will go up another 10 cents
by summer. That has the same effect as a tax without recouping revenues to pay
for things like road maintenance and pollution control. All the money goes to
halliburton profits and we know those guys aren't above ripping off our own
military in time of war.
