Why I Am A Fundamentalist |
"Here, then, you have the Christian program:
(1) the offer of the Gospel to all who will take it;
(2) the attitude of meekness toward non-Christians who persecute you; but
(3) war on those who from within the sacred precincts of the Church
seek to destroy the Faith. Those who accept this whole program are
today called "Fundamentalists." If I shall be able to show you what a
Fundamentalist is, you will know why I am one. A Fundamentalist is one
who believes..."

Ted,
Indeed a fundamentalist is one who believes. Unfortunately, he
believes wrong doctrines. Hence, fundamentalism is wrong behavior.
I would rather see people refer to themselves as children of God. At
least there is "some" humility in that. "I'm a fundamentalist" draws
attention to self; not God.

I caution you that you need to accept even those brothers and
sisters who disagree with you on minor issues.
Just because you understand to worship on Sunday, or you understand
that you may worship ANY day, don't frown on those who stubbornly
insist on worshipping on Saturday ("Sabbath").
Understand that the teaching you MAY have received that says that
the "Christian Sabbath " is Sunday have not taught you correctly. If
you study the New Testament diligently, there is no announcement that
the "Sabbath" has been "moved" to Sunday.
Understand that just because you may prefer the KJV, that does not
mean "it's the one Jesus/ God chose for us to read." There are plenty
of modern translations and the sincere Bible student has more than one
translation for study.
Understand that merely because you have been mis-taught that
drinking alcohol is a sin, there is scriptural evidence that drinking
alcohol WAS being done in the 1st C church, and we have scripture that
Jesus Himself drank alcohol!
Make room for sincere disagreement on the MINOR issues.
And on one MAJOR issue, I am betting that if you asked 100 Baptist
elders, and half that many pastors, they would tell you that the
authors of the Old Testament, including David and Solomon, died and
went to Hell since they didn't live in the time Christ came. They
didn't live to see His Advent.
I can't agree with that position, and I am proud to claim that
Jesus Christ IS My Lord!
This is not an attack; it's a gentle wake-up call.
God Bless!
