JESUS, THE SECOND MAN

Why read the Bible

To read the Bible in one year, today Read: Genesis 42-44

To Know:

³From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God
besides thee, who works for those who wait for him.² (Is.64: 4)

Let me remind you that these devotional guides are meant to encourage a
systematic reading of the Bible. The guides are organized to help you pace
yourself in order to read the Bible through once each year.

Godıs word empowers faith. In his word God reveals his will. His will is to
conform us to the image of Christ. When we listen to the Lord, he will work
in and through our lives. Hearing the Lord means heeding the Lord and it is
by such heeding that faith is both born and grows strong.

To Do:

The Bible builds expectation. We expect the Lord to do in our lives what we
read in his word. In truth, the Lord will do far more than we can ask or
think. Please set aside a special time each day to read for thirty minutes.
In less time than it takes to watch the nightly news you can acquire
knowledge that is priceless.

To Answer:

Have you studied the scriptures to assure yourself that you properly
understand why Jesus needed to fulfill the law and the prophets?

Are you clear concerning the difference between legalistic righteousness
that relies on our work, and Christıs righteousness that resides in the new
birth?
