I like this much - it makes my chest heavy though. And rather sad.
Rosena
"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest;
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

That is odd, huh Cal. I am moved by his sonnets. I do not know if we
live in a culture that takes such senitment seriosuly anymore, but
rather laughs at it or dismisses it as overly romantic. Did you ever
memorize his sonnets in school? I didn't but always wanted to.
Did you get your errands done?

have you seen "shakespeare in love"? if not, please rent the dvd.

yeah, i actually did. maybe even that one. we learned about shakespearian
and petrarchan sonnets in grade 10, when i was 15. i wrote a sonnet called
"november" which i read to the class and it made a girl i had a big crush on
fall for me. it turned into one of my very intense high school romances.

Did you get your errands done?

agh. i just finished my income tax returns and got them e-filed. so yeah,
bit by bit. per ardua ad astra. now i'm going out for a long walk and a late
bite to eat. i've been sitting here too long again.

Oh yes, several times - wonderful eh? There was another good one that
came out recently "stage [something] about women being allowed to play
women roles and what it did to craft for men who had always played
women. Really lovely.

Ah, I like this story. Do you still have sonnet? Post it if not too
shy. I'd love to see it.

I know feeling. I have an open window in my study and air is beautiful
and I want to go play. But it is sort of a big deal to get scooter out
and adjust and all. But tomorrow definitely Maria and I are getting
out. Cal, not to get too personal, but don't give up on romance for
you sound like a nifty man.

is it "stage beauty"?

i do it well. it's a gift, or the result of great love of music and
poetry combined.

i wrote a sonnet called "november" which i read to the class and it
made a girl i had a big crush on fall for me. it turned into one of
my very intense high school romances.

Ah, I like this story. Do you still have sonnet? Post it if not too

i wish i still had it, but i don't and i only vaguely remember it. it was
about how depressing november was and how love might save me.

i haven't given up on it, but i'm discouraged and taking a rest. i think
you're pretty cool too. it would be nice to talk face to face.
