Ok, I can see that. That makes sense. *thinking* That may be true
of me, and I am really not attempting to make excuses, but I also give
room for the possibility that one persons capabilities may never be
the same as someone else's, even if they are given the same treatment
and opportunities. I couldn't tell you why that is, there are things
that I cannot understand or comprehend. All I know is myself and what

for one person may not work for the next.

Yeah, I believe that. I used to have such a personal belief in the
motto 'If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get
what you've always gotten.' I just don't know. My thinking is far
from perfect, I don't know and understand everything about my illness,
let alone how it is for anyone else. Maybe you can see things I don't
even in the short amount of time you've known me, or if my
psychiatrist said this to me I really just don't get it. Right now I
don't know how to incorporate that into my thinking, to be able to
'overcome myself' to see that, to continue down what clearly seems to
be the same road (even if that's not true) to me. I just don't see
it. Maybe it's my fault that I'm doing so poorly and I could be doing
a lot better than I am. I just don't know how, and I don't have any
fight left in me atm. I must have something left, some hope, or I
wouldn't continue to see my psychiatrist, or come here. I thank you
for your perspective. I do think about what you have to say.

Well, I used to think that, but now I think there are some people who
just don't get better. My son has a form of Autism (and other mental
illnesses) and though he can make improvements in some ways he will
NEVER be cured. I have the same beliefs about depression and mental
illness. I don't think it's fair to tell someone that they weren't
determined enough to 'solve' their problems and find some enjoyment in
life. I can't tell someone who spends their entire lifetime seeking
treatment and attempting to cope with their illness that they haven't
given it enough time. What more time did they have to give?
