@ Clingy to ASD @ |
Appointment for Maria changed to Friday because doctor wants me there
too for part of it - it is going to be family therapy and individual
for Maria . . . here we go (I am so personally resistant to therapy for
myself BUT very clear must do for Maria)
She is just an inch away from expulsion. She wrote Physco on a wall at
school and got in trouble I had to go talk to them. Mispelled I know.
Going for Latin test now - - - - we can (Maria and I) get okay damn't.
Clinging to all of you - excuse my temper. Just frayed.

Good that you will get both family therapy and individual therapy for Maria.
With such a dysfunctional family as you have described, it isn't surprising
that Maria is having problems.

Maybe you will finally have the motivation to do what you need to do
for yourself. There is some value in that.

You are doing the right things. Take some comfort in knowing this, and
take care of yourself.

Hi Nom.
Just as an aside, I appreciate your medications pages and research.
They've been helpful more than once.

Why not? Maria is not a marionette who is completely dependant on her
mother's lead for every single decision she makes or direction she decides
to go in. Even if Rosena does every possible thing wrong - and she won't -
there's still the strong likelihood that Maria will figure out a life for
herself which has meaning and importance. It seems to me that both Maria
and Rosena are entering into therapy with similar misgivings - I think
there's something about skepticism towards 'therapy' that's healthy. The
power to change rests within the individual, after all.

I don't go see movies that people have already told me aren't worth it. And
if someone is telling me a movie review I'd probably be able to pick-up on
the facade hidden behind the glowing review.

Hi Franz,
Therapy will "work." When one posts on ASD, there is often an
inclination to not go into to a lot of clarifying detail to keep short.
At least with me. What I should have said is that while therapy has
helped me much in past, I am not confident it would help with my demons
that trouble me now. I am willing, however, to be wrong. This is NOT my
attitude for my daughter for I think given Maria's particular history,
just having an adult who knows about teen problems to trust will itself
be a big plus. I think Maria could really gain some self-esteem and
confidence about letting her feelings out (and not cutting them out).
So? I am anxious to get going and do it. I will be completely open with
therapist and follow her lead. What I post here about my inner
feelings is not necessairly an indication of how I will treat a
situation.
This is just clarification.
Best
Rosena

I agree with you Jean. Thanks for vote of confidence. As I told Franz
I think therapy might really help Maria and it might help me to mother
her better or be more insightful etc. I am open to it for her. And . .
..like you told me a few months ago, maybe it is a good thing for me. I
just don't want to "do" the "story" one more time. But that is
irrelevant right now. This is for Maria and whatever therapist says we
will try to start. I like you think a bit of skepticism is healthy.
There is this teacher at Maria's school, a young woman about 30, who is
taking enormous interest in her, gave her her cell phone number, is
taking her out on Saturday, said Maria could come to her house anytime
and my first instinct is why are you so interested in my daughter?!
However, I am just going to sit back and keep a watchful eye. I think
she is okay and genuine in her concern. I think Maria is looking for a
mother figure elsewhere right now and it hurts but if the woman helps
that is what matters.
Tomorrow is Maria's day with me (no school) and looking forward to it.

scary stuff, and i hope you will both get through this as
smoothly as possible. you'll probably end up closer than
you've ever been before. i think that much good can come from
this therapy, providing both of you, and particularly maria,
allow it.
with good wishes,
