How do I keep it from always landing me at the beginning of a long
thread when I want to see the most recent posts? Seems that sometimes
it does and sometimes it doesn't and I can't figure out the pattern.

the older google groups was better, and before that, Dejanews was a
far better system. google groups 3 just plain sucks.

I can't stand google, then after 25 posts you have to change nick
names. Just the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It's my own fault I
shouldn't be posting from work.

you mean like, unless you wait a certain amount of time and then you
can post again with the same nick, right? otherwise to keep posting
after the limit, you'd have to change nick. I agree, that's so dumb
of google to limit people like that.

I think you get a 25 posting limit then I'm not sure how long you have to
wait, I usually just change nick names if I'm gabby while at work. I don't
usually get a lot of time at work, but the boss is out all this week
soooooo.

You can't, that I know of. What I do, when I use Google, is use the
"Sort by date" feature at the top of the column, then go straight to
the bottom to read the most recent posts. You lose the threadedness
that way, but if you've been following a thread closely, that's not a
big deal.

Ah, thanks, I forgot about those alternative views. "Standard view" is
what I was using, but "View as tree" gets you the whole list (and
*will* preserve threading if you select "Sort by reply" vs. "Sort by
date").

Mark

When the newsgroup is busy, I get lost with the sort by thread view.
I'm too lazy to look through the "tree" and find the most recent
posts. I'd rather go straight to the bottom of the date view and skim
off the last (or last few) posts.

What's really annoying is that Tbbtyr used have a better
version until... when, a year ago? And two years ago
the toplevel view from the archive was much better.
One could once do the "view tree" option, and go from
there.
