Just so you know, in case you didn't already know, in the gay community
you would be what is known as a Bear. It's a neutral term meaning
you're kind of a big guy. Bears often (usually) have beards/mustaches
and tend to be hairy all around. But just being a big guy is enough to
qualify. There is even a gay Bear Movement with it's own flag and
everything.

It's all over the internet. Just google "bear gay" and you'll find all
these organizations. I think there's even a Wiki on it. Bears even
have their own special "growl" for greeting each other -- sort of like
boyscounts for adult gay men. There are even subcultures of bears
such as Otters and Wolves. Otters are young bears who are thin; wolves
are also young and thin but also are aggressive and like to be on top.
A Panda bear is an asian bear. Etcetera. Ernest Hemingway in his
cuban years was a typical bear.

You stereotype and label people showing certain characteristics, isn't
that a little ironic. This "movement" probably represents a very
small portion of the gay community, at least I hope so.

I'm not stereotyping or labeling anyone -- the movement created itself
as a response to body fascism within the gay community. As for it
being "a small portion of the gay community," I don't know, but the
movement has been viewed positively as a move toward more diversity
within the gay community. Because before the Bear Movement, as it is
called, the "ideal" body image was just young, thin, lean. Now there's
more acceptance for other body types -- bigger, cuddlier, even fatter.
There isn't this obsession with "the perfect male physique" anymore
which is a good thing, don't you think? I mean, we're not all built to
look like Brad Pitt.
