I've decided, theres no place for the white, ugly, inferior male in
this country anymore. So in 10 years from now I'm retiring to mexico

i wish i had an answer, i don't.
except that i will say that it's not a good idea to dream about the good
time other people *might* be having.
the reality of many peoples lives, including rock'n'rollers is usually
tainted by a living experience that you probably wouldn't want.
you don't want a woman who is only going for a dream. you won't outlive
that kind.

Hi Steppy,
I've been to Reynosa and a small town in central Mexico called Apaseo El
Grande, near Celaya. I think it was about hours north of Mexico City. The
boarder town Reynosa was very poor and not very clean, but the portion where
my husbands grandmother lived wasn't bad, the people were wonderfully polite
and friendly. I spent two months there, then we went on to Apaseo El Grande
where my mother-in-law lived and stayed there for three months. The town
was poor, but very well taken care of, my in-laws didn't have plumbing or a
bathroom for that matter, that is how poor they were, but they didn't know
what they were missing and soon enough I was washing clothes on an ol'
washboard and playing dominos and guitar outside with my lil sister-in-laws.
God we were young, but I have the best memories of Mexico and the people who
were so nice to me.

tend to know and get a taste of poverty in Mexico, given that the main
numbers of Mexicans who migrate to the US are from unprivileged status. I
myself do not know that town you mention near Celaya, and I'm afraid neither
Reynosa. My father's family comes from Monterrey, 220 Km from Reynosa, but I
grew up in Mexico City from newborn. I am familiar with the states of
Mexico, Puebla, Guanajuato, Morelos, Guerrero, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Veracruz,
Chiapas, Colima, Quintana Roo, Nuevo Leon, and I haven't been much to the
north, except for Nuevo Leon. I almost forget the Federal District, have you
been to Mexico City?

Yes my first husband is Mexican, I was so young 18, he was 19 and I was
really naive... Honestly he was looking for his green card and I was
looking for happily ever after. I met him in Dallas when I moved there from
Minnesota right after high school, he swept me off my feet god I was so
trusting. I sort of messed up his plans when two months after we were
married I got pregnant, he was sooo angry. Any way that's neither here nor
there, his family always treated me so wonderful and I have fond memories of
my time with them. We were married for three years.

little towns and how wonderful I was treated in those towns, I'm not really
interested in the tourist areas and actually prefer the smaller less
populated villages. Even though they were poor they were happy, life was
simple and everyone was happy for what they had rather then what they didn't
have.
The only bad experience I had was when we were taking a bus from Reynosa
(Border of Texas and Mexico) to Apaseo El Grande about 12 hours into the
journey, we were pulled over by military. We were asked to get off the bus
and leave all our belongings on the bus, purses, suit cases etc. They were
armed military so I wasn't planning on arguing. So we got off the bus and
when we got back on the bus my wallet with Driver's License, Birth
Certificate, Social Security Card etc had been stolen from my purse. I
honestly believe the military took the wallet from my purse because my
husband and I were the first back on the bus when the military left the bus.
No one else had the opportunity.

Thanks for sending me the map. Apaseo el Grande is not that far from Mexico
City. And I understand quite well your romanticism of the simple life of
small towns, but then after all the people are as wicked as everyone else if
they find themselves in position of cunning and deceiving. Or I am just

Anyway are you in Mexico city?
Yes, it's too crowded here. One tends to live our lives around suburbs where
one finds everything, but from time to time one has to travel to another
parts of the City and it is just a pain in the neck. I almost do not drive
anymore. I prefer to move on taxis very often. So this is a snapshot. Lots
of beautiful architecture, though, from ancient Indians, through Spanish, to
Modern Mexico.
