***** YOU VMH! |
I'm so sick of trying to get ***** done. It's too much. I'm at my limit.
I walked 30 blocks to make my appointment this morning to set up a
treatment plan, started walking at 7:30am in the fuckin cold rain, I get
there at 9:00 for my appointment and this Kathy lady isn't even coming
to work today! Well thanks for telling me so I could call off the
babysitter and not walk seven fucking miles in freezing rain! I'm sick
of it. I quit. Why should I make an effort when they don't meet me with
the help? Why swim to a lifesaver when they aren't going to throw it? I
quit. ***** councelling. ***** meds. ***** recovery. I quit. I'm bleeding
on my keyboard. I quit!

That sucks. Big time. Utter *****. Damn straight you should be angry.
It was so far beyond inconsiderate it borders on incompetence. It seems the
system is being run by a bunch of idiots. And that is precisely why you
should not quit. Because they're not worth it. If you let them beat you
all the work you have done to date has been for nothing. You have come too
far to just let them push you down now. All that fight in you...all that
fire in your belly...everything in you that took you to where you are
today...is much bigger than they are and you need to stoke those hot coals
and get this done in spite of them. Why? Because eight years from now your
daughter will be given a school assignment. An essay on who her hero is and
why and she is going to write that paper about you. You...who through years
of mental illness and tremendous struggle stayed strong for your
family...fought for your family...worked hard to be as well as possible
often against surmountable odds...for your family...and knowing you did it
because you love them will make you a hero in her eyes and she will tell
your story with great pride and greater love. That is why you make the
effort. Because your little girl is going to need a hero. Do it for her.

I've tried writing the chairman and his colleges, but to no avail. I

Yeah don't give up, until you are satisfied this isn't going to happen to

why shouldn't we be able to charge them for missing ours?

That's what I said to the girl at the desk behind the bulletproof glass.
(Bulletproof glass is kind of insulting, but this is the forensic unit)
The other thing that urked me was that she kept asking if rescheduling
was ok, and I'd say "no" which she ignored. I have an appointment
Tuesday, with a different person. Since I've never met any of the case
workers it's not such a big deal.

They wouldn't pay, quit dreaming.
You would also get a bad rep with the office staff, who I've learned are
as important to make "friends" with so they can squeeze you in when at
any other time they would just tell the caller that there was nothing
"until next week."

That's another thing that sucks about going to this other unit. At the
South Unit, they would give me cab vouchers so I didn't have to pay to
get there! Not here though. Maybe I'll go to the homeless medical clinic
and get some bus tokens. (They give them out free there.)

Hell yeah I would. Its the wrong time of year to have to walk anywhere if
you live in a cold state. Is the south Unit affiliated with this other one?
Maybe you could get vouchers from the south unit to catch a ride to the
other one if they're affiliated.

That's sucks, but if they see you are trying to make an effort but
transportation is a problem, maybe they'll help you with that part of
anyway. All they can do is say no. Or maybe one of those agencies that
arrange transportation for the sick and elderly. Wonder if they have free
programs for transportation to a doctors offices. Like a courtesy cab.

They have a free custom ride service for elderly people. Takes them
anywhere they want to go. Perhaps not directly because they have a
"short bus" so they have to go in the efficient order to accomodate a
half dozen people...but still it's free.
I think they *might* have to arrange it 24 hours in advance, but still
point to point for free. I can't wait to get old, just for the bus rides!

maybe if you wrote it out and handed it to your therapist next time. let
him/her experience your anger and frustration over what little regard
shown to you. leave the blood in, that should impress if nothing else.

Nah. These ppl tend to be shameless about such things.
No not all of them, mine would not be, he was sincerely
apologetic when my chart was missing or held up. But some
of them are.
I GOT IT. This counselor person has a LICENSE, be it
Ph.D, M.D. (which I doubt) or C.S.W. right?
Write to the Licensing Authority. Typicall a State
Agency. A proofread letter, printed from a laser printer.
Mailed with a Certificate of Mailing (or Certified, but
the first costs less)
Realistically they will not lose their license over
this, but they might get a call from Authority themselves.

This is the best advice, get a business card and it will have the
initials after their name and then just go to the state. Don't bother
with the director/chairman...of the place. Go to the licensing board for
the state. Make sure somebody else reads the letter first for you too.
Write up all the details, get the weather information for the day, the
distance you travelled each way, the date the appt. was setup, whether
it was confirmed (them call you/you call them)...all the details you can.
Also probably a rough way to learn the lesson of "call ahead".
Especially for free state services, they never give a ***** it seems.

snail mail to NYC. so i've opened a new account which i will close
after i have collected my initial 100 free tunes.
i've collected what music they had which i don't have on CD and am
looking for other/new music i've haven't heard yet. i've got 36 tunes
left and need suggestions.

I'm so sick of trying to get sh*t done. It's too much. I'm at my limit.
I walked 30 blocks to make my appointment this morning to set up a
treatment plan, started walking at 7:30am in the fuckin cold rain, I get
there at 9:00 for my appointment and this Kathy lady isn't even coming
to work today! Well thanks for telling me so I could call off the
babysitter and not walk seven fscking miles in freezing rain!
I'm sick of it. I quit. Why should I make an effort when
they don't meet me with the help?
Hey slunky. It's called "compliance." It s*cks, but
being "compliant" is a Big Deal. As in a potentially
Major Big Deal.
Like any minor snafu, maybe a traffic ticket, and it
comes out you are not "in compliance" well, it's not as
bad as a parole violation but it's something along those lines.
I don't like it either. Even when it's not punitive, it's
bureaucratic.
The peabrains in State Forensic will not understand
that you are not really being treated, etc. All they
will see is the other peabrains report that you dropped
out of the treatment plan.
Like once I was late (partly transit delay, partly me
being slow walking) to a pdoc appt. So he won't see me.
Umm, am I supposed to go without Rx for a month?
Turns out I can come in the next day or the one after
that as a walk-in. Like I can understand that some ppl
never show, etc. The counselor even said "this person
isn't one of those" But I came in soon thereafter. At
least I only had to pay for one visit. But if I hadn't
asked, I never would have known about the walk-in visit.
A bit scary since I personally know one guy who very
like would *not* know to ask.
I have about 30 blocks to walk too. (There's a bus
but it takes a long time to get to the stop) And it
is one boring walk usually.
quit. Fs*k councelling. Fs*k meds. Fs*k recovery. I quit.
Like I said it s*cks majorly but just "quitting" is
probably not a good idea. I don't get much from my
counselor. The Rx possibilities are not the best. I
stay with it until I find something better.
You have a *lot* more at stake than I do, I'm single
and w/o children. Luckily I had an Excellent Excuse
when the first Rx weren't working and I did miss
some appointment -- another Rx for cholesterol affects
memory.
You are mad, you will be mad, you have reason to be
mad. Fs*k it. Until you find some better place to
be in treatment (and who knows if such is feasible)
I have to advise you to keep with it... BUT
You should complain somewhere. My first thought is
not to try those within the system, but somewhere outside
it. I'd go to my city councilman I think. Clinic
here is HHC, some gov't agency. Your place takes gov't
funds, right? Freezing rain, babysitter... nasty
bit of incompetance.
Or maybe you can ask for a different counselor.
Now, if you were seeing someone in private practice,
I'd advise you to change IMMEDIATELY. I sorta doubt
that a plain old personal request will do that here.
Which s*cks, but that's the way it is.
Any one else with any ideas?

you ought to complain about this. it's inexcusable. just because
someone screwed up, try not to take it out on yourself. save
that for the system and the therp who didn't bother to show.
you show such promise. you're a good guy and seem to be a good
parent. you're bright and talented. don't let the beaurocracy
take everything from you. you're too good for that.
